Concentrated urine (FMU - Fertility Monitoring Unit) should be used if you are in the early stages of pregnancy. Because the hCG hormone may not have built up enough to show in diluted urine, the first morning urine will most likely be your best bet.
Same thing happened to me, but I discovered it was a chemical pregnancy, which means the sperm and egg merged and the pregnancy hormone was turned off before they implanted in the uterus.

HCG concentrations were measured to be sure. I decided to share some information about FRER sensitivity with those of you who, like me, are curious about how the test reflects actual HCG concentrations. I used leftovers from my IVF cycle to make serial dilutions of human recombinant HCG (Novarel). The dilutions were done with lab pipets, so the concentration should be fairly accurate, and in the appropriate buffer (sorry for the details, that was my husband's urine) to model the amount of HCG in the urine for the test. Here are the results (also see photos attached). The test is very sensitive at 5 mU/ml, which is lower than the brand's claimed sensitivity of 6 mU/ml. a very small amount However, I would consider it positive because just my husband's urine produces no second line at all (I don't have a photo for this; we did it with our first unsuccessful transfer, when I was pregnant with a chemical pregnancy, a long time ago). The concentration of 5 micrograms per milliliter (mU/ml) in your first morning urine is approximately 10-fold higher than the concentration in your second morning urine. This is comparable to 5 mU/ml in blood. 4 days before your period was supposed to start. Also, compare the 5 mU/ml results to my 8-day post-transfer 6-mU/ml results. I had a day blastocyst (last photo), and two days later, at 10dpt, I had blood beta-globulin. A HCG level of 38 is considered to be normal. We can see clear positive results at 20 mU/ml. This is the HCG level you'll have on your first day without a period, and it'll be between 40 and 50. 60 micrograms of beta-carotene per milliliter HCG levels in the blood br>br>And it's only at 100 mU/ml that we see the second line at the same brightness as the control line, indicating that the FRER test has reached saturation. br>br>I also discovered that for early results, you can use LH tests (used for ovulation detection) rather than HCG. LH tests are extremely sensitive, possibly even more so than FRER (the test line for the 5 mU/ml sample is noticeably darker). I couldn't find any information on what subunit of LH these tests detect, but I believe it's beta-LH. LH subunit with a structure that is nearly identical to beta-. HCG's subunit. Beta- HCG, on the other hand, contains about 30 additional amino acids, so home pregnancy tests that detect beta-hCG are ineffective. Only HCG is detected by home ovulation tests, whereas both are detected by commercially available ovulation tests. Because LH levels drop after ovulation and during pregnancy, I believe you can easily use your LH leftover test to track HCG levels, at the very least to see how it doubles. br>br>Another thing to keep in mind with FRER tests is that they tend to get darker over time. If your HCG levels are expected to be below or around the threshold (say, day 6 post IVF transfer) and the test line does not appear, I recommend keeping the test for another 24 hours in case you see a faint positive later. For those who claim that their FRER results are "false. " If you don't have HCG, the test will be clear negative, as my experiments with my husband's urine demonstrated. There is no test line, only a control line; if you see a faint positive that has recently vanished with another test, or if your period has arrived, you have a chemical pregnancy. We had a chemical with our first failed IVF cycle, so I understand how devastating it could be. However, this is a disadvantage of using extremely sensitive tests, so plan accordingly. br>br>Here is a summary of my research: FRER is extremely sensitive, displaying faint positive results even below the claimed threshold; however, good positive results can be obtained at around 20 mU/ml, or on the first day of your missed period. Because of the ridiculous curved handle, I only give these tests 4 stars. It's an obnoxious design that makes it difficult to lay flat and takes up more room in the drawer if you want to keep the used test for future reference.
I went out and bought a digital pregnancy test, and sure enough, I'm PREGNANT! What a waste of time relying on them!.
This is a set of tests that is extremely sensitive. As I read the reviews, I was struck by how many common questions go unanswered.
- Why is the first line darker than the second?br>Congratulations, you're expecting a baby! Because your HCG level is high enough to pick up dye from the control line, a chemical pregnancy is unlikely at this point.
- Why was there a line that then vanished? br>It's likely that you noticed an indent or were exposed to a chemical. Miscarriages that occur before the fifth week of pregnancy are known as chemical pregnancies. Genetic factors are usually to blame, and there is nothing that can be done to prevent them. Indents are grey lines that appear to be indented.
- What is the sensitivity level of these? br>I've tested positive as early as 8DPO, and my beta at 10DPO was 29 and I had a fairly dark line by that time. br>br>The main disadvantage is the cost, as well as the fact that it is easier to detect an early miscarriage, which may be emotionally too much for some.
I wish I had done my homework and read the reviews first. I was as negative as possible on all three of these tests when I took them at the start of the week. I skipped a day of testing because I felt pregnant and thought I needed to give it some time. I bought a clear blue from the grocery store (because I had used the three that came in the mail at this point) and it was positive right away. This could just be an unfortunate coincidence, but I don't think so because it was positive right away. What a pity, and what a waste of time and anxiety! Ladies, don't make yourself sick by going to Walmart!! I'm not sure if it's because of the brand or because of the ones I got from Amazon. What a waste of time and resources.
Do not waste your money on this product because it is defective. All three tests came back negative, but I used a different pregnancy test the next day and got a positive, and the doctor confirmed the positive with a blood test.
I took that and there was a line, so I took a test from the Amazon shipment with the same exact urine (dipped it). Nothing. Then I took another, assuming the first was defective. Nothing happened after that. Finally, I took the last one and saw how similar they were to the REAL FRER test I purchased from CVS. They're smaller, have a broken sound when shaken, and the lines don't match up. Purchases should be avoided.
ALERT! This item has now been changed to First Response Pregnancy Pro by this seller! The item that was delivered did not match the description. When the image in the listing clearly shows the original double line tests (without a digital readout), I received the digital version of this product. and this is the SECOND time I've received it in this manner (I purchased it from this seller last week as well)! The first test I used didn't even show a result, which is why I wanted to use the non-traditional method. Version in digital format.
At 8 DPO (days past ovulation), which was 5 days before my period, I received my first positive test. The line became darker with each passing day, as you can see in the picture. br>br>However, each woman is unique. You won't see a positive result until you've had implantation, so if you get a negative at 8/9 DPO, it's possible you haven't implanted yet or aren't pregnant. You should give it another shot. br>br>I'm writing this review because I believe this product has been unfairly criticized by women who tested too soon and received false negative results. A few women also appeared to receive "false positives" - However, I'm afraid to say that this is most likely the result of a chemical pregnancy, which I'm hoping isn't the case for me.
