Questions & Answers

Can you tell me how much it costs to calibrate?

Exactly as you describe, I sent mine in (about $8 for shipping) and it was received as soon as possible. I guess we could think of it as buying one at a discount just similar to that?

It would seem that it could only be accurate for a few months if you drink nightly?

There is a danger that this will be great for a while and then it will turn There is a possibility that 200 is correct, unless it is not. Keeping calibrations up to date will require more work and expense in the long run. that you read about the costs and terms of calibration before making a purchase and that you are willing to undertake the task. It is just the way of technology that whatever it is it would likely be as good or better than any of these things. The games are good, but for me the inconvenience wasn't worth the enjoyment and utility they provide.

Is it necessary to wait 15 minutes before using this product?

As a result of drinking alcohol, the air in your mouth and esophagus becomes very Moreover, it is inaccurate as well. As the air in your mouth and esophagus returns to normal after waiting 20 minutes, you are able to swallow.

During a test session, can I pass the book to my friends immediately, or does it need to be waited for a few minutes?

When you are finished testing yourself, you may pass it around to others. We all know that someone should not have taken any alcohol within 15 minutes of their test- Sharers should switch disposable mouthpieces between each other so that sharing is kept clean and sanitary.

I find this whole thing to be a gimmick to advertise their newest As mentioned in the most notable negative review, I experienced the same issue
3/5

Approximately a few hundred readings were made by the unit. Calibration of the device has been arranged. The calibration process. It is a joke that can't be taken seriously. A person in their right mind would not intentionally spend $120 on something that works for only *200 reads and then fails even when they try to re-run it The calibration process. A professional-grade device needs to be extremely reliable in order to be called that. There is no reason why a circuit should fail a calibration as long as it works. My unit was sold to me as something that could be calibrated, and marketed as being high quality. BACtrack did exactly the same thing as that reviewer, and waived my return. The company offered to waive the calibration fees as a courtesy and to give me a discount of $40 on a new panel. This entire thing feels like an attempt at keeping your attention and upselling their latest product. What are the chances of it being accurate when calibrated? You've written a complete and utter piece of.

My first reaction when I got there was to be happy
5/5

In order to heal the pain my ex-wife caused me, I bought this and attempted to get as drunk as possible in hopes that this would heal my pain. When I hit the on the way back, I was happy. Mark 241 on the scale.

There's an EXPIRATION date on that darn thing
3/5

I'll keep it to myself. *200 reads were possible with this product. The unit was sent to BACtrack for calibration, and they contacted me a week later to inform me that my calibration had failed. I have found a possible solution to my problem through BACtrack You are kindly requested to refund the calibration charge The company sent me the unit back as well as a $40 coupon to purchase another unit from their website.

Now here's what I'm not satisfied with This is B1. In addition to 1500 readings, the battery has a life of four years. Upon completion of 200 reads, the unit itself is unable to function. 3.
*3 For this reason, I spent a lot of money on a unit that could be calibrated. It seems absurd that they charge a calibration fee for a unit that can supposedly be calibrated, but fails calibration at the same time? Shouldn't they be able to re-calibrate the unit at will? Does it need to be calibrated so as to pass This is three. The quality of this product is clearly lacking. It is their responsibility just as it is Apple's responsibility to replace the faulty chipset on my MacBook when it was found to be faulty due to quality (which was done). *Which percentage of people actually send in their breathalyzer to be calibrated? Generally, I calibrate all my measuring tools since I have worked for highly regulated pharmaceutical labs which require calibration of their devices manually, at least on a monthly basis at times even on a I think it's unreasonable to trust BACtrack to alert me if I blow over my legal limit if they can't identify this as a quality issue and deal with it honestly? Are you able to guess that your device won't pass calibration after 200 runs? Are you willing to use it even if you knew it could not guarantee accuracy or precision? I doubt it. To solve the BACtrack problem, I propose If I received a new one, and I kept the broken one, as an example of ethical customer service- I make. It isn't good enough to tell people that the battery will last 1500 reads if you can't guarantee its quality after 200 consecutive There is no way to build a device that can be reprogrammed You don't have to charge me for the calibration if I have it calibrated. It ends up that I either order a replacement from BACtrack or buy the Trace directly from Costco and take advantage of my membership guarantee every time it fails As a reviewer, I have wasted enough time writing this one. Make sure your breathalyzer is calibrated before using it. I'm sure that I'll be "validated" soon enough! There is no such thing as a foolproof plan There is an easy way to guarantee that the breathalyzer will work for you and not BACtrack's wallet. ***UPDATE*** I talked to customer service at BACtrack on the phone and this is what I learned. It is expected that the units should last anywhere from 3 to 5 years It may take up to 5 years (time dependent, not dependent on how many times it has been read). Since I bought it nearly four years ago, I have owned it.
I am very disappointed with BACtrack's dishonesty when marketing their product as being able to run for 1500 times on one charge, when customer service assures it runs for 3 charges over the course of 12 months. (By printing a "Best By" date maybe you could guarantee a lifespan of 5 years? "calibration" is not enough). They should change the word "calibration" to "verification" as soon as possible. The company's calibration service involves reading the device at high, low, and mid BAC standards, comparing it to the acceptable range, and then sending it back. Calibration cannot be performed only verification is possible. Customers told their customer service center this is a common problem after three years of owning the device. Imagine how long it would take an AED chest pad or battery to expire. I guess you're going to have to be careful friend! There is no safeguard or printed date on it and it isn't working properly.

This breathalyzer is wonderful
5/5

I am so glad I bought it. Thanks to this breathalyzer, I am so glad I bought it. What's the reason? This is what I will do. The purpose of a breathalyzer is quite simple when it comes to buying one It is accurate. There is no doubt that an inaccurate breathalyzer It was time for me to take a breathalyzer. The combination of alcohol being prevalent in my industry and me being an alcoholic The fact that any driving infraction would result in the termination of my career combined with the infused social outings I regularly attended. There was just something about drinking that I could never handle- There is no such thing as a drive. For the accuracy, it just so happens that in my line of work (in my previous role) we tested participants' breaths The high-profile nature of the event As a result of the risk, we had to make sure that every participant was The breathalyzer we utilized was incredibly expensive, costing close to $1500 (police standard) and had to be calibrated Basically, every time I went to our professional breathalyzer, I would have a few drinks. After that, I would How did the results turn out? Similar in a lot of ways. One would usually read when he or she is bored. There would be an extremely close relationship between them. This gave me confidence that Bactrack is as accurate as it claims.

For years, the first one has ran flawlessly, but has recently started displaying inaccurate blood alcohol concentration information
3/5

In order to keep him healthy, we must monitor his blood alcohol content on a regular basis. Three years ago, we bought our first S80, and we are now buying our second S80. Our first one had been working perfectly for years, but only recently began displaying inaccurate BAC values. This led us to buy a second one to replace it. The idea is a bad one. As of right out of the box, it was returning BAC values of It is crucial that this device gives reliable, accurate results, since it can save someone's life. The machine read values that were over the BAC zero line. There are 40 people in this category The value of 50, while inaccurate, is still high enough to be deadly My circumstances may have changed, so I'm looking for a replacement elsewhere. No one at the company or production facility seems to know why.
