A similar device came with my 10th generation Echo Show, it pairs directly with the Echo Show, and all other Echo devices work just fine with it. There is only one condition - you need an Echo with Zigbee capability If that is an older Echo Plus, a newer Echo 4th Generation, or an Echo Show 10 instead. To be able to connect to your Alexa network using Hue, if you do not have the Hue hub then you will need to use the Hue skill. I recommend using the show since you can see it as you install, so that's another perk. While most of my smart devices are wireless and use the Smart Life app to integrate, the Smart Life skill is used to connect them.
Prime Day just ended, and I got these. In order to utilize voice control (Alexa/Google) to the fullest, you need a hub. In any case, you will need to connect them via Bluetooth for Alexa, meaning the Echo device needs to be within 30 feet of the lights for the Alexa to function. I have my Echo Dot 4 feet away from the bulbs, and I have trouble getting them to operate properly. I was only able to communicate with the Echo 85% of the time. The rest of the time, it complained of not being able to communicate. The Philips Hue (Bluetooth) app can also be used. In terms of functionality, I did not like them for the price. Furthermore, I also purchased 3 LOHAS Smart LED bulbs for the price of two (had 3 for the price of those 2) and they work well. With the LOHAS, you don't need a hub, as they are both Bluetooth and WiFi. The Philips device is not something I would consider buying since I don't care for hubs. After staying up until 400 in the morning, I woke up at 5 a. m. The lightbulb I just got does not work with my new Echo Dot 3. I am trying to figure out how to use it. There are a few things to keep in mind about the bulb that came with it. One of the reasons I have been awake the entire night was because of these useless and misleading web pages. Hue hubs are not necessary if you don't want to spend a lot of money. It is not necessary to download an app from the Google Play Store or the Apple Store. The Hue skill doesn't need to be selected from the Alexa Skills menu, and you do not need to register for an account to use it. ****If your Echo Dot has not already been set up, then you just need to click the Set Up button. It's probably a good idea to wait while it connects with your other devices first. You can now turn on the lamp/light fixture by installing the lightbulb. Here, Alexa should have told us that a new light was found, but she did not. "Alexa, discover devices," Alexa named the device "First Light. Rather than starting with technology, let's start with the light. There are so many wonderful colors you can get with these bulbs, and that's really the best part about them. The light might be as low as 2200 K and that is a pretty warm orange color that makes you feel relaxed especially when dimmed. When you're ready, you can scale that up to around 4,000 K or something a little more stimulating. Or, if you need some kind of bright, vivid color, you can go as high as 6500 K. Those are the best things about these bulbs and I love them for that reason. Now let's investigate why the rating is only The false advertising in this review almost makes me give it one and a half stars. It is stated in this Amazon listing as well as printed on the box that this device does not work with Google Assistant. As far as I know, it does not work with Google Home is the only device that works with it. The Philips hub is the only way for this to work with Google Assistant. This is a poor beta product that should never have been released. If it doesn't work with something, don't advertise it to work with it. With the price of these bulbs, it is better that they are compatible with Google Assistant and have a more seamless setup process. Having said that, everything is nicely in context, and then in the world of smart lights, there is nothing wonderful yet, so that's why I gave it three stars, along with the fact that I really like the color and the lighting, which is where Phillip's really excels.
The easy way! Having three is perfect for my house, I have two for my garage and one for my porch. There is an Alexa device for each of these. There is no reason why they can't pair according to reviews. Let your Echo discover the new 3rd generation so you can set it up. Be sure you understand how the Alexa app works. All you need is that. A HUB IS NOT REQUIRED! I have them set to lock and unlock every day according to a routine. I am happy with the outcome.

Was satisfied with everything and thought that everything was fine My understanding of the situation is that it was due to Another two weeks go by and it's still the same. Issuing commands to the Google Home Mini suddenly stopped working. My wireless router was reset, so I disconnected everything and reset it again (as the troubleshooting guides suggested). Now, they can't even be found anymore. In both cases they worked one week longer before they stopped but this time they worked one week longer before they stopped Regardless of whether I can connect, I don't want to keep having to do this on a regular basis just to use the service. The actual original review was as follows Wasting money is a terrible idea. It was too difficult to set them up, and after I finally did they stopped responding to my Google Home Mini after a week or so. To reset them, I disconnected the devices now the computers will no longer connect. Most likely going to return them. The trouble they make is way more than they are That said, it has been a pretty awesome week for them. The bulbs are bright and nice even at full blast, but they can be dimmed as well Even with the dimmest setting, I still think the light is a bit too dim. My favourite feature was that I could control it with my voice, which set a gentle wake mode that gradually increased the brightness in the morning before my alarm went off. Had they worked for more than a week, they might have done better.
Using the instructions that came with the product as well as the website to connect the device did not work. It took over an hour for me to get it to connect to my Alexa.
There is only one thing I am not happy about about the whole Phillips hue line and that's the price. This is my go-to source for smart lights because we are slowly transitioning our entire house to them. Only a few can be purchased every month or so because of my limited finances. As of yet I still seem to keep buying more, so that tells.
It has oil residue from handling and dust from being in a lamp, so I can feel that it has been used before. The Hue lightbulbs in my older house are in better shape.
