I believe it is referred to as bright white, and I believe there is a frosted version available from this manufacturer. It's possible that it'll make the light softer.

I'm overjoyed that Amazon now sells them. I bought a ten-pack and used them in both upper and lower cabinet lighting almost immediately. I had no idea there were so many more out there, and that I would require more! (How long has it been since I stood on my kitchen counter and looked above my cabinets?) I promptly ordered a second pack of ten and promptly used them all! Allow the light to shine! They are fantastic. Thank you very much!.
