Hi Robin. You're not the only one who has thought about it. It's more difficult and difficult to explain than you might think. My best recommendation is to look up "how to change a range hood light bulb" on Google. You can watch instructional videos that show you how to do it. Also, do you have a suction cup tool? If you don't have them, you can get them for less than $8 on Amazon. "MR 16 lamp changer head" or "MR16 light bulb changer" are two terms you can look up. That handy device made my job a whole lot easier. Best of luck! I hope this has been of assistance.
It may take some persistent back-and-forth movements to loosen it up if it's been in the fixture for a long time. Normally, you gently press in on the bulb before rotating it counterclockwise. You can then pull it out of the socket by turning it clockwise a small amount.
They are backed with a reflector.
Yes. They're halogen lamps, and when they're turned on, they get extremely hot.

Others with identical specifications and appearances did not work for some reason. I just reordered some to keep on hand for future use because they're such a good deal. They arrived safely packaged, and I had working lights (finally) within a few days of placing my order.
These were a perfect match for the bulbs I needed to replace on my Viking hood. I just ordered three more bulbs so that when the other two burn out, I'll be ready to replace them. I have no idea how long they'll last. My hood's original bulbs lasted eight years and were constantly used. The old bulbs were extremely difficult to remove, so we'll see how long these last. They will then come out after a 5 degree counterclockwise turn.
I used two of them for my stove hood, which has two settings: high and low, and one for my warmer. Everything is in order.
One of the three bulbs was a dud (that is, it didn't work). This is the first time I've ever bought a new bulb and it didn't work. Bayonet sockets are difficult to work with as it is, so having a bad bulb made things even more difficult.
There's no way to tell them apart from the real thing. Exactly the same brightness.
It took a long time to get these bulbs into their sockets. It took about an hour for me to complete this task. They're also not as bright as I'd like, and there are only three of them in the package. For the price, they should come in a four pack.
The brightness of these bulbs appealed to me, but they generate a lot of heat. The heat can be felt when your hand is held a foot or more away from it.
Range hood replacement parts. Worked perfectly.
