Yes. This product, however, chemically burns only the part of the root that comes into contact with the liquid. The product dissipates a short distance from the drain field pipe at the same time, but only in the sense of dissolving roots. , the wood will rot after the area has been killed, but nothing will dissolve the wood or roots overnight. Bottom line, when used correctly, copper sulfate prevents root problems.
It's not a good idea to do that. To control roots in a municipal city sewer, pour 2 pounds of Zep Root Kill into the toilet closest to the sewer line in 12 pound increments, then repeat the process until the 2 pounds have been added. Another option is to remove the cleanout plug and pour the entire bottle into the sewer line, followed by several flushes of the closet toilet.
Wait 24- Any other drain additive or cleaner must be used 48 hours before. I hope this information is useful!
Roots aren't easily broken down. It seals off the roots' ends, preventing them from growing any further. I've been putting a bottle in my sewer line every three months for the past 17 years and haven't had any problems.

For at least a decade, I've been using this product; Maybe even more, in my opinion. br>br>I have a lot of trees with a lot of roots that make their way into my old (cast iron) sewer pipe, and before I started using this product years ago, I had to hire a plumber once a year to clear the massive root accumulations in my main line that eventually backed it up. br>br>Enough is enough. I added 32 oz. of water to the mix. Four times a year, religiously, pour one bottle of this into the main line (via the toilet). Since then, I haven't had to call a plumber. br>br>Not to mention that it's a lot less expensive than having a plumber come out, with all of their fees and hassle. What a significant cost reduction!.
I ordered the Zep root killer to avoid having to dig up my entire lawn to remove root infiltration in a sewer line, and it appears to be effective based on other reviews I've read. To kill the roots, the instructions state that it should be left in the sewer line for 6 hours. I needed to leave town for a day, so I used it right before I left, which meant it would sit on the roots for about 36 hours in total; the reason I only gave it four stars was because I would need to install a camera in the sewer line to see if the roots were actually destroyed. I could just wait and see if I get another sewer blockage as an alternative. If not, I'll most likely raise the rating to five stars.
Last month, I dumped this copper sulphate in my clean out near my house. My mainline has been draining at a snail's pace since then. I'm not sure if this is blocking my mainline. br>1/14/21 Thank you ZEP for your excellent customer service in explaining how to use this root killer. Because my neighbor has a giant tree at the fence line and refuses to cut it down, I've been using this product for over ten years. The mainline has been blocked after application for the first time this year. Because it had coated my entire mainline for a month, I assume it's more effective this year. I don't need to use root killer with foam. To dissolve the dead roots, I used three gallons of instant power, two bottles of k97, and two gallons of Green globbler. I've got to snake it today. There isn't even a shred of resistance. My cobra snake has no trouble getting into the house. There is no blockage, and no dead roots as a result. The line is then completely cleaned and running like a stream after two loads of laundry. All mainline cleaners and cobra snake companies owe a debt of gratitude to ZEP! Customer service is excellent in all of them. I save $500 and the hassle of hiring a plumber by doing it myself.
We cleared the sewer lines and began using ZEP Root Killer as soon as roots began to breach them. So far, it has managed to keep the roots at bay!.
I dump an entire container during the (late) FALL and haven't had any problems. My sewage line is about to spring.
Likes: It appears to do what it was designed to do, but if you look back at the history of trees, root growth problems have always been a problem. This is essentially an old formula repackaged in a more appealing package, and the price is reasonable. It also includes instructions on how to add to the mix, as well as general follow-up. I'll have enough treatment for the next two years at this price and with four canisters. I used to buy it at Menards until I found it on Amazon, where I saved a few bucks and didn't have to leave the house to get it, LOLbr>Dislikes: So far, there have been none, and I've been using it for a long time.
The sewer line was cleared of tree roots.
They keep tree roots out of pipes. br>.
