Drano didn't work for me; I used the entire bottle and boiled water on the stove to drain it out, but it barely worked. Then I tried this product, and MAN! This product worked perfectly, I have a lot of hair, and this product is less expensive than drano. I looked into the drano money back guarantee, and it's a load of nonsense. They only refund a portion of your money, not all of it. This is available at Walmart for anyone who requires assistance. DO NOT PURCHASE DRANO AS IT IS A MONEY WASTE!.
Hair buildup has caused a minor clog in the drain leading from the washing machine. Although the water clears in 30 minutes to an hour, I can no longer wash my clothes without the water backing up and flooding my garage sink. Now, I've had some pretty bad slow clogs in the past that took an entire day to clear, but this one seemed minor, so I figured Drano would do the trick. br>br>Dumped 1/5 of the bag as directed, then flushed with hot water after 30 minutes. Nothing has changed; the clog is still in place. br>After the water had receded for a few days, repeat this process three more times. the drain is still clogged br>The remaining 2/5 I just poured in all at once, assuming it wouldn't get clogged. I was certain that I would have to wait another day until all of the water had been removed. br>br>The drain is still clogged on the fifth day. There has been no discernible improvement. I've just squandered five days and ten dollars.
I'm glad I got this one instead of greengobbler because the reviews made me hesitant to buy it because I live in an apartment and didn't want to deal with the greengobbler clogging my sink drain. As a result, I bought drano and used it as soon as I got it. I poured the drano into my bathroom sink and tub and let it sit for 30 minutes before flushing it with extremely hot water. After that, I went to bed because I planned to administer the treatment when everyone was asleep and no one needed to use the restroom. Which was a wise decision because the bathroom sink and shower are incredible after a night of sitting. The slow draining issue in the bathroom sink is no longer an issue. Now, don't get me wrong, the shower was fine; we weren't having any issues with the drain; I just wanted to be safe, and the shower is still as wonderful as it was when we first moved in.
I found it to be very effective. Things happen to drains when you have a family of six, three of whom have hair that extends past their shoulder blades. This has come in handy a few times when snaking the drain was taking too long (and was also disgusting!). Because the bottles I bought had some blobby bits, it appears that they had been exposed to extreme temperatures. However, because those blobs made no difference (and haven't in 30 years of using this product), I thought I'd mention it. Because of the low temperatures, blobs form in the gel that carries the product. This is a result of the delivery/storage process rather than the product itself.
According to the directions, pour about a fifth of the bottle per treatment, so I'm guessing there are five treatments in total. I used this on our shower and had to do two treatments, but it drained perfectly after the second, so I'm satisfied with the product and believe there are about three more treatments left in the bottle.
The clog was doomed from the beginning. Me: "It's a clog!" exclaims the narrator. "br>The stumbling block: "MWAHAHAHAA!" exclaims one of the characters. It's MINE if you take a shower! "
Me: "I'm going to show you how to clog!" I'm going to place an order for some draaaaano"br>The clog: "NOOOO ARRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG "br>br>- - - - - - - - - - Make sure to flush with very hot water, and it will work perfectly. It worked for me once, and it got rid of the majority of it. Then I repeated the process until everything was clear. It had been a tough slog.
Because it didn't seem to work, I went through the whole bottle. Finally, on the third day, after taking a shower and watching the water level in my tub rise, I decided to unclog the drain completely. I was taken aback when I heard the drain open and the water flow down! Drano may or may not have helped clear the clog, so I'm giving it three stars. I know it says not to use a plunger on the back of the bottle, but it worked for me! I'm not sure, but it could be a combination of Drano and plunging! I'm just relieved that the clog is no longer an issue.
