Since I've been taking Mucinex twice daily (not DM) at my doctor's advice, I have been taking only regular Mucinex. When you only want to dry up post nasal drip, you don't really need dextromethorphan, which is a cough suppressant. You can try the 600mg tablet first, and if that doesn't work, you can move on to the 1200mg tablet. Worked like a charm!
You get a big jar of shaving cream when you purchase the 500 size. To transfer to a smaller jar, I use a funnel. Among the 500 sizes, the only one I have seen comes in a bottle is 500. Safe, all it does is thin mucus. That is what I needed (in addition to using Nasocort, which stops most post nasal drip, and antihistamines daily), since I kept my husband up snorting and trying to get discharge It is MUCH less of a problem for me when I take mucinex twice a day. I was able to get 100 tabs for about $20, the lowest price I could find. As a doctor, I always suggest to my patients that they take these measures when their allergies flare and drainage occurs, or when they have a cold and mucus thickens. I think it's worth it to get reliable relief at an extra cost. There are tons of reasons why you should buy on Amazon in bulk and you will save a good bit of money.
The product I received is defective to the point that I am afraid to use it. Due to my long-term use of this product, it was apparent that there was a problem with the pills that were sent to me. In the past I purchased the cheaper generic brands at local drugstores, but you have to take so many each day in the long run, which means you don't save as much, and no one has time to take pills every four hours during their day anyway. The reason I liked this one was because it is time released, and I got a large pack at a good price.
