Using the same technology as the US troops to stop even the most serious bleeding wounds, this pack of QuikClot Gauze includes two packages impregnated with Kaolin. The clay activates the fibers in the blood plasma, making them sticky, allowing platelets to stick to them, and stopping the bleeding.

I bought this and shoved it in my medicine bag. In yesterday's incident, I cut my leg very badly, which meant I was bleeding a lot. After I pushed this gauze into the wound with my fingers, I counted to 100 and grabbed another. I then took a picture of the sign. After I got it stitched up it didn't bleed at all, and I even walked around for almost an hour. The treatment is a bit costly, but you really don't think about that when you're bleeding a lot.
Worked for me just fine. I am a paramedic and we use a variety of Quikclot products, such as Combat Gauze and The Combat Gauze stuff in this pack is exactly the same as the $50/pack stuff. I am very satisfied with this product. Furthermore, I really like these smaller strips, because they make packing gunshot wounds much easier.
Get the version which is 4" by 4 yards. Those are more expensive, yes, but the illusion of having a real hemostatic dressing will be fooled by them. You can't use this dressing as a hemostatic dressing if you need one. There is just too little space in it.
This is a first aid kit necessity for adventurers, technicians, workers in high risk areas, or anyone who works around machines or high risk areas. The one I carry every single day is with me. These were bought for my family.
BUT my reasons for giving it a four star rating are the following While the seller was Amazon and I used 1-click I would like to point out that I received expired ones, June 2018. I had to get them in the same day after purchase. Make sure to check the expiration date the moment you receive the documents. The date is printed on the back, bottom left corner. Ideally, they should have an expiration date of at least three years into the future if they are new or relatively new. This product really works just like it is supposed to. Not instantaneously, but faster than layering gauze, removing the blood soaked gauze, applying more sterile gauze, and repeating. I have had accidents using it and it stops bleeding quickly. Back when I was hiking in the rain, I slipped on a sharp rock and ripped my leg right open as a result. As soon as rescue arrived, almost all of the bleeding had stopped and I was able to use both QuikClot gauzes. It is true that I had to use regular gauze on top of the quik clots, but the amount was much smaller than what I would have needed if these products weren't available. This method also saved me from losing more blood than the conventional method of applying layers of gauze I highly recommend this book. Keep in mind that expiration dates are important. The expired ones need to be returned to me and new ones should be obtained.
My heart sank when I realized how much this cost me. Two pieces of gauze the size of a quarter are involved. Ripped off from start to finish. Choosing a different hemostatic agent is a good idea.
I received a combat gauze in the emergency room that saved the life of my husband. Dr. Smith was able to provide an explanation for me. It was described to me in detail, and he also provided a device that I could The bleeding continued for hours after I applied the QC gauze for three minutes as the primary physician requested. After following the pressure and ice pack as the primary physician asked, I had to use the gauze again after a minor surgical procedure started the bleeding again, although less severely this time. There has been a camping department in a sports store in Fort Bragg since then, and I have seen it for sale there as well. As a result, now I keep two in my purse, as well as.
In terms of the two packs I just received on 4/3/2017, their expiration is in 9/2019.
While they are not going to stop major bleeding, this should help with minor surface bleeding. Internally (for instance, a nose bleed) should not be used. Additionally, you should purchase a first aid book or DVD and learn the basics so that you can help save a life before an emergency response team arrives.
