They're great if you don't have calloused or thick skin on your hands
5/5

I was told I had pre-eclampsia. I was diagnosed with diabetes a few years ago, and I've been tracking my glucose levels with meals ever since to improve my condition and keep it from progressing to full-blown diabetes. Walking 20 minutes after any carb meal, as well as taking certain supplements, has proven to be extremely beneficial, and my glucose levels are now almost always within the normal range. I still have days (especially when I don't sleep or feel sick) when my glucose is off, so I like to check it with the glucose strips from time to time. br>br>My preferred glucose monitor is the Freestyle Lite; I did a lot of research and found it to be one of the most reliable and consistent, and I've been pleased with it overall. In addition, the lancet device is quite effective. I prefer it to others in which you must press a button to prick your finger rather than pressing the button to release the spring, which then pricks your finger. It's a minor point, but when I'm the one doing the pricking, I find it more difficult. br>br>I've always purchased Freestyle brand lancets, but this time I thought I'd branch out. The price was significantly lower, and the ring gauge is smaller (28 gauge) than I was used to. br>br>According to the page's description, these lancets are compatible with a variety of lancet devices, including the Freestyle. I was convinced that there had been a mistake when I opened the package and compared the lancet to the Freestyle one. I figured that because these ReliOn lancets are longer and protrude further from the lancet device than the Freestyle ones, it would come out too much and give me a deep stab! Instead, they appear to be in perfect working order! So, if you've just received these lancets and are worried about whether or not they'll work with your Freestyle device, don't be! It functions admirably. br>br>What I discovered is that when the Freestyle lancets are propelled forward by the spring, the lancet actually comes out a bit of its seat, whereas these ReliOn lancets do not. That's why there's a difference in length. Now, let's talk about performance: br>br> I've noticed that these lancets are less painful, and in some cases, they're even painless. The disadvantage is that they will only work if your hands are relatively thin and free of calluses. To get a decent droplet of blood out, you may need to use a few tricks. br>While many people recommend washing your hands with warm water, I find that simply letting my hand hang low along my side for 30 seconds or so is sufficient. br>br>Overall, I'm pleased with these lancets; they perform admirably and cause less discomfort (both to your finger and to your wallet!). Win win. br>br>If you have any questions, please contact me; I'll be happy to assist you. Please consider clicking yes below if you found this review helpful; I would be grateful. br>br>I've noticed that the "Verified Purchase" has been removed incorrectly from several reviews I've written on Amazon-purchased items, and as a result, they're no longer visible, which is likely happening to others as well. When reading reviews, make sure to sort by 'All reviews,' as there is clearly a bug in the system that has hidden many helpful and detailed reviews.

What good was the box if none of the lancelets were inside? This is the worst order I've ever received in terms of packaging
3/5

None of the lancelets were in the box, which was crumpled and held together only by tape/stickers that were no longer sticky. I'm not sure how safe it would be to use these, given that the box specifically states, "Do not use if seal is missing or broken. " I don't usually write reviews, but this was truly terrible. Don't bother with this, because the lancelets themselves could be contaminated at any time.

As expected, the product is excellent

These can be used with or without the lance-holding device. The top is big enough to hold between your fingers and gently stick your finger in.

The box has been damaged
4/5

Although the price was reasonable, the box was damaged, and some of the lancets were missing from the package.

The price is reasonable
5/5

These lancets are both effective and cost-effective. Why spend a fortune on name brands when these lancets work just as well and fit a wide range of holders?.
