They certainly have the ability. The AlphaTrak 2 monitor is what I'm using.
For that price, the box comes with 100.
The needle's gauge is its size - the width of the opening, to be more precise. The needles used in lancets have a very small gauge. The gauge gets smaller as the number gets larger.
They have a gauge of 28.

These are functional, but they aren't perfect.
With our diabetic cat, I've tried both generic brand lancets and AlphaTRAK® lancets. The AlphaTRAK® lancets are more expensive, but they almost always produce a good sample on the first try. I usually have to stick my cat's ears a few times before I get enough blood to sample with the generic brands. There are times when being cheap is appropriate. It's not one of them to draw blood. The AlphaTRAK® lancets are effective.
I own an Alpha track monitor and have never had any issues with it. They work with other lancing devices, and my diabetic husband uses them when he runs out of his own. He doesn't complain, so I'd say they're painless. They came on time and at a reasonable price.
I've previously suggested pricking the ears of my diabetic feline patients with a 25 gauge needle. I'll be recommending these lancets to my diabetic patients after using the lancet device that came with my AlphaTrak glucometer.
My diabetic cat has recommended it! When the lancet lands in his ear, he barely notices it. It's only a smidgeon of a drop of blood. No messes, no discomfort, and a contented cat. (Input from humans - The products from AlphaTRAK are fantastic. Controlling feline diabetes is a lot easier when the testing devices are simple to use and the test is quick and painless.
I didn't like it at first, but after some excellent coaching, I've discovered that I can do it to help my dog live a healthy life, and it's well worth the effort. I adore my dogs, so it's all worth it.
I'm giving it a low rating because the needle wouldn't work most of the time, even when set to 5 for depth. It is not possible to use the needle because it is too short. I could get blood from my pet's paw if I remove the cap from the injection pen and tap it. I couldn't get blood for a reading most of the time if I didn't do that.
I could never get these to work, but I discovered that you need to press down hard enough for some of the skin to stick into the hole and allow the needle to penetrate. Then I have to apply a lot of pressure to the skin to get enough blood to flow out. My dog does not seem to be bothered by the needle, but it does not appear to hurt her. All I have to do now is press down. When I couldn't get these to work the first time, I tried calling AlphaTrak for assistance, but no one answered.
