I bought this for my husband, and when asked what it does, he replied, "It gives me some relief and is very relaxing.". Although it does temporarily relieve the knots, it takes the knots out. There is a lot he likes about it. Beware of the following dangers as well When wearing old clothing, do not touch the skin. After using the product, some holes might appear in your clothes. A carrying case and storage case are included with it. It's a very nice quality item.

My physical therapist had not heard of them, and I have yet to come across anyone who has, including my occupational therapist, who use them and the key is to distribute your weight evenly. I like this mat very much. As I use this, I am pleasantly surprised at how relaxed I feel. It took me several weeks to get used to these spikes. Although they were quite painful initially (had to wear a top for a week until I could remove the top), now I feel them with an initial sting, followed by warmth in my back that lasts for more than 5 Excellent product. From the beginning, I lay bare-backed on this mat. At first, the spikes were hard to feel. I notice that my nerves seem to get more alert the more I use it. I feel some of what the other reviewers say about the feel, as I can feel the muscles being relieved as I lay on it. I am still not having a problem lying on it, but I can feel it a bit more of what others say it feels like. In one day, I might lie on it two or three times. Considering the cost, it was a wise $22 investment.
