I find these to be a great alternative to all those other fruit snacks that contain very little or no fruit at all. The simple-minded We use just a few natural ingredients, no chemical additives, no corn syrup, no extra sugar, no colors that are artificial. It is a favorite of my kids as well as mine. The texture of this fruit leather is richer (to my taste) than the chewier, tougher ones. In addition, they're lightweight and easy to fit inside a purse or small lunchbox. They are great for backpack lunches and snacks, but our whole house ate the whole box in just 5 days because they are so tasty and a great alternative to fatty desserts. My son eats them for years, and we've tried variety packs as well. Strawberry is our favorite flavor it's spicy, tart and sweet enough (15 grams of sugar) to satisfy a sweet tooth but not too much to make you nauseous. A soft texture and easy chewing make it a great snack. In the recipe for strawberry rope, there isn't a single mention of strawberry. It's ironic given the fact that all the ingredients are organic and all natural. In lieu of these ingredients, these are made from apple purée and apple juice concentrate with pectin, vegetable juice for color, Malic acid, and organic natural flavors (not necessarily Gluten-free and enriched with vitamin C (20% RDA) and iron (6% RDA), these ropes are high in vitamin C. It's always been a bit tough to explain to me what "natural flavors" mean since the term can mean any number of things from fruit to liver and companies always tell me it's a secret proprietary ingredient (which I haven't confirmed There is a strawberry taste to these ropes, so I'm hoping the natural flavors at least include some strawberry derivatives. However, I might have mistaken my taste buds for the real deal. Because I trust Clif sufficiently, I assume that its natural flavors are not something disgusting. However, I wish that Clif and other companies would disclose what their natural flavors are made from. I have a 5 year old who absolutely loves these fruit ropes. They are gone in no time. Packing them for lunches and keeping them in my car and purse for a quick snack are ways I use them. The product I bought is free of preservatives or high fructose corn syrup, so I am happy with it and don't mind paying a bit more for snacks that I feel good about eating.
As such, when the list of 'safe snacks' for school was issued, we were extremely restricted as to what our children could eat during their snack time. It was my intention to have 'trial and error' about what they would eat at break so I ordered everything off the menu. The toys I buy for my children (and myself) have been around for a few years now. As mentioned above, I have set up a subscription to make sure we always have snacks on hand. I am always searching for healthy snacks that my kids love and that do not have extra sugars or ingredients that are questionable. The twist design on these is perfect. They run true to size and I like the way they look. You can eat more of it and it makes the food a little more bulky. Do you know what carnuba wax is? I love that these fruit snacks taste so much like candy to my toddler. As for the caranuba wax in them (to make it shiny, just like in car polish), I don't think they're worth the price tag. It is likely that trace amounts of carnauba wax exist in these, but I am likely not to purchase them again as I am not familiar with the process of making the wax (i. e. Solvents that are harmful).

This is the perfect combination of sweet, tart, flavor, and texture! I would rather eat these than a red vine or Twizzler any day! The price per item may be a little expensive, but they aren't a deal breaker for me.
