I made the decision to plant each and every one of them. I am not compensated for this review - I'm just a stay-at-home mom who wants to share what I've been given. These came quickly and in great shape. I chose to plant them all because I wanted to be able to use some fresh throughout the year and grow them outside as natural pest repellents for my garden and livestock. I carefully cut about 1/8 inch off the root end of the lemongrass, removed the outer layer of lemongrass, and cut the stalks to about 5-inch lengths. I cut them into 6 inch lengths and placed them in a 3 inch deep dish of water. They had enough roots to plant in small pots after about three weeks. The tops were also expanding. By the end of five weeks, I'll have four children. The stalks have leaves that are 5 inches tall. I would strongly recommend this seller and will purchase from him again.
I'm not a horticulturist, but I'm aware of when a plant isn't performing well. This is a good one! When I cut the tips off the stalks, I didn't see moist green rings if the lemongrass was bad. As long as it's submerged in a few inches of water, I expect it to root. I'm happy about it.
These were purchased with the intention of propagating them. following a long period of anticipation. Now I'm happy to be planting lemongrass in soil for a harvest!.
TastePadThai generously sent extras, so I now have a counter full of rooted lemon grass stalks. It took anywhere from a week to three weeks for them to begin to show signs of life, so I'm keeping them alive for now, but I expect some of my neighbors to inherit one or two of them soon. br>If you're going to cook with them, mine arrived plump and alive.
Lemon Grass is a rare find in the area. I also rarely travel to a large metropolitan area to look for items that aren't available locally because of COVID. The Lemon Grass Stalks were delivered in a Ziploc bag. A padded envelope holds the loc bag. They arrived in good condition, especially considering the time it took to harvest them and mail them. I washed the stalks and peeled off the outer layer on a few of them - I'd buy them at a farmers market and resell them, just like I would if I bought them at a supermarket. I put them in a fresh, new bag. In the crisper drawer of the refrigerator, they keep well. I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of how they would affect the flavor of food, cooking, etc. as a newbie, but they appear to be doing the job, and unused portions appear to be storing/keeping well. I hope this information is useful.
I only need one stalk for each lemongrass chicken recipe, so this will feed 12 people! I'm overjoyed with this purchase, and I plan to buy more and freeze it because it's hard to come by in the supermarket. Thank you very much!.
I've seen lemongrass mentioned in a number of recipes, but I've never seen it in any of my local supermarkets. I ordered these stalks from Amazon, and they arrived two days later (by U. S. Postal Service). Priority Mail from the Post Office). I read the advice given in several Amazon reviews, as well as some other websites that provided detailed instructions on how to care for and use lemongrass. According to these sources, I trimmed the stalks and put 8 of the bulbs, as well as all of the green parts, in the freezer. These have yet to be used by me. I put the remaining four bulbs in a container with water and hung them in the kitchen window. After a little more than a week, the bulbs have sprouted roots (which are still quite short) and stalks that are about 8 to 10 inches long. Based on the information I gathered from lemongrass-related websites, these from TastePadThai appear to be of comparable quality to what the websites recommended readers try to find in local markets. The key is to follow good advice when it comes to stalk preparation.
I was buying skinny little lemon grass stalks (in Hawaii, of all places) when I decided to give this company a shot to see if the quality was any better than what I could get locally. This lemon grass was a pleasant surprise; the shipment arrived fresh, with extra-large bulbs on the stalks. This purchase has made me so happy that I have already placed a second order.
