Questions & Answers
It was purchased so I could try to clone gourmet mushrooms purchased at a store. There has been no success for me. In my opinion, you mix it with sterilized water and add any material you want the mushroom to grow on It is then injected into the "substrate" that you are using. Attempts were made to clone both Shitake and Portobello mushrooms with it. With both, there seemed to be something growing Although I was able to sprout more than one mushroom, I still haven't succeeded in fruiting anyone. It was a lazy way to do it in the end. A donation of items was made to the science club of my child's school. It might be possible for them to solve it!
The amount of liquid culture mix required should be used along with distilled water in order to reduce sediment. The pressure cooking process can result in limescale if tap water is used. As long as the sediment is not present, the mixture will perform okay.
The malt dextrose I think is malt. The premix you receive is just a starter, you will be able to make your own. I like it very much!

In the past, I have used this product several times, and it has always been my preferred choice. I am glad to see that the package is now in bottles instead of mylar bags, as this helps keep moisture out and disperse evenly. If you need to sterilize for a while longer, continue to sterilize a bit longer. It is recommended that you give yourself 45 minutes.
It's a perfect mix and it works great.
I purchased it twice to make certain it wasn't operator error. The first time returned mold and the second time My instructions were mostly followed to the letter, except that I pressed the PC button a bit less than recommended the second time. Back to Karo now.
