These two processes have very similar designs to remove water. To prevent mold growth in foods and preserve them, dehydrating, an ancient technique of heating a room, is used to remove the water found in meat and produce. A modern tool that does the same thing in a much faster manner is a freeze dryer. Foods that are freeze dried maintain their shape better and will rehydrate more quickly than those that are thawed. It takes about 10 minutes. You are faster. In the ingredients, it specifies that these are dehydrated, as it does on the back label.
They are fresh and then dehydrated, and they have not been subjected to any other processes. If you tried to rehydrate with cold water I would imagine it would take hours, because it takes about 10 minutes to cook them as-is.
For each serving, there are 1/4 cup, so if you do the math, I need 2 servings for myself when I prepare it.
I have no idea, but simply buying as many single cans as you want will save you money.

The taste is ok, though. My contact with Augason Farms was deemed as nothing more than a jerk by the guy. He told me that they make some really good products and it makes me sad. There ARE others, but this is not.
My only complaint is that the service was poor. To test it, I cooked a little bit. I used 4 cups water for 1 cup dried vegetables. Then they covered it for 10 minutes while bringing it to a rolling boil and flavoring it with bullion. The flavor is great. The texture of the vegetables is very satisfying. Not mushy. Added to backpacking meals as a supplement. It will be my first choice in the future.
There are many varieties to choose from. In the past couple of weeks, I have gradually purchased from this company (one product every two weeks) to slowly become accustomed to preparing meals from a hydrate base, and the results have been phenomenal. Currently, I am distributing eight different products (from whipped cream to soup, whipped potatoes to vegetable stew) and each dish not only tastes great but is as easy to prepare as possible. Rather than for food storage, I bought this for convenience. It works great! Dehydrated vegetables of the highest quality. It is hard to match the convenience of scooping out a cup of pre-made soup every time Adding cut vegetables (potatoes, carrots, celery, cabbage, peppers) to a stew is the first step.
That's what it is pulverized vegetable dust. I don't know what to make of this. As shown in the pictures, they are not chunks of vegetables. Material that cannot be described in words. There's a bitter taste to it - like painted dust I am so disappointed / disgusted that it might be dried paint dust.
In order not to add more cans to my emergency food supply, I initially wanted to try this out. The perfect way to make a healthy meal out of a bit of meat. It was also quite good when I tried the vegetables with just broth later on. It is highly recommended that this method be used to add lots of vegetables to emergency rations. Making your own freeze-dried backpacking packets is a great idea.
I just thought I'd mention it. The reason we all need to stock up with Augason Farms food, or another brand of your choice, is that it has a long shelf life, tastes good, has a long shelf life, and a good variety. And best of all, the price is lower!.
My family and I have tried several Augason Farms freeze dried meals, and this one is exactly as good as It would be better if you followed the instructions, otherwise you would end up with twice as much as you need. The taste, as well as the mouth feel and texture, is excellent.
