I didn't want to go to the Asian grocery store 15 minutes away from where I'm staying right now for just one item, so I ordered this dark soy sauce. The two bottles were well packaged in bubble wrap and arrived the next day because I have Prime; the expiration date is July 2022, which gives me plenty of time to use them up. br>br>I bought this soy sauce for an online pork belly recipe that uses dark soy sauce as a coloring agent. I may have poured a tad too much dark soy because I noticed the pot of water and spice mix was lighter in color early on. After reducing the water to sauce, it came out a little darker than I had hoped. However, it tastes great. br>br>Note: If you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, try using the words "creative If the color is too light, many food videos suggest adding more dark soy sauce when it's almost done cooking. Follow the recipe and don't make the same mistakes I did in the beginning by being overly enthusiastic. br>br>In my opinion, there isn't much of a difference between regular and dark soy sauce. Dark soy sauce appears to have a more complex flavor, but most recipes that call for it also call for a lot of other spices, so it's difficult to tell how much of a difference it makes in the end. Dark soy sauce is mostly used in recipes to give food a "candied" clear brown coloring, according to what I've seen. This soy sauce was ideal for the job, and I'm pleased with the outcome.
I've been using supermarket brand soy sauce for years; the one I like best tastes too salty, and another brand tastes better but isn't as good; this one tastes good and isn't as salty as the supermarket brand I used to prefer; this one is a winner, and I've already ordered more.
From now on, I'll only use this and nothing else. My husband's fried rice was greatly enhanced by the dark soy, which I had never tried before. It wasn't as salty as the regular, according to my daughter. That isn't true on the package, but it appears to be true in taste. Very flavorful and filling.
The company also sent us a lovely letter; they're a small business, so we'll definitely be purchasing again!.
In the recipes that I use it in, it has a pleasant flavor. I could get it cheaper somewhere else, but they don't ship and it's 6 hours away, so I'm glad I bought it here.
Overall, I like this brand's soy sauce; the flavor is strong and it smells great, but you can get it for a lot less in Chinese grocery stores; I just can't go because of covid- 19. However, the packaging is excellent, and both bottles arrived in perfect condition XD.
Dark soy sauce can be used in a variety of ways, but my personal favorite is on soft boiled eggs. Something I came across in Singapore- "toast with runny eggs".
It was nowhere to be found. I was fortunate enough to come across it on Amazon. It appeals to me a great deal.
