What is the significance of the gallon label on this product?

It's about a gallon and a half, according to my calculations. 8 ounces. It's a colossal amount of space! I divide the contents into smaller jars, give some away, and keep the rest. They're fantastic!

Is there a can of pickling spices or just juice in the can?

The can contains spices. It's fantastic if you enjoy pickle juice.

In Germany, cornichons are known as "sour gherkins." Where can I find non-imported sour gherkins or cornichons in the United States?

I've never seen one that wasn't imported in the United States.

Give India the benefit of the doubt
5/5

I bought these for my husband, who prefers the (made in France) "extra fine" Maille brand, but they're so expensive and he uses them so quickly that I wanted to see how he liked this (made in India) brand. Obviously, these are a better deal, but they're nearly identical! They have fewer pearl onions and peppercorns per ounce, and the brine is a little less "bright," according to him. However, they are nearly indistinguishable in terms of flavor. He now uses these to refill the Maille jar so he can continue to use the pickle lifter.

The pickle gods have spoken; don't miss out on this opportunity! A fantastic purchase! If you pass up this opportunity, I'm afraid I'll have to say you're a little dim, my friend
5/5

Take a look at the size of the cans. Last night, I cracked open one of them and filled five quart mason jars with the contents. After 13 minutes in a simmering water bath, they resealed and fit perfectly on the shelf. The pickles almost completely fill the can, leaving about an inch of headspace. So there are a lot of briny bites in this thing. br>br>Last night, I made a fantastic chicken salad out of grilled chicken from a beer can, and these ingredients completely transformed those sandwiches. br>br>Come on, take a chance and buy a large can. You'll thank yourself later, and depending on your consumption rate, you'll have pickles for weeks or months. Just re- Put those suckers in mason jars and you're good to go. br>br>Have a delicious meal!.

Cornichons Gerkins of the highest quality! I'm not familiar with the other pickle mentioned in other reviews, but I had been purchasing Roland Cornichons Gerkins for $5 at my Whole Foods
5/5

For a smallish jar, it's 99 cents. They stopped carrying them, so I was ecstatic to find them on Amazon for such a low price, and I was relieved to read other reviews that suggested putting on a hard enough air filter. Because this gallon can is so large, you'll need to store them in airtight jars. Once you open it, they'll need to be refrigerated. I bought a 12-pack of pint Mason jars and filled 11 of them with Cornichons. They're very tasty. They're a hit with everyone I've given them to. I would strongly suggest it.

The first thing to note is that this is a HUGE can, with a higher sour / acidic content than most
3/5

You'll need several containers to store these in your fridge; I know there's an illustration of a person holding it on a shadow torso, but that doesn't do it justice. In terms of flavor, I'm a huge fan of Aldi's Deutsche Küche Cornichons, and since they're a specialty item that's hard to come by, I decided to pick this up. The lack of sweetness and the strong vinegar flavor are the most noticeable differences. These contain no sugar, whereas Aldi's contain 2g per ounce. These aren't bad, but the vinegar is too strong to eat a handful as a quick snack. I like them with cured meats, hard cheeses, and a few of these guys in a Bloody Mary. In any case, I'm set for cornichons for the next year.

A good deal - With a few tweaks, it could be even better
4/5

The pickles were a little tart for my taste, and there was definitely a lack of that tiny touch of sweetness and herbs found in the real French product, but the cornichons were greatly improved when tarragon was added to the jars you'll need to store them in, as suggested elsewhere here. In each jar, I also added a few crystals of sugar and a small amount of ground garlic, as well as replacing half of the vinegar with apple cider vinegar. The flavor was becoming more "French" even after two weeks. " Beware: There are a lot of pickles in this package. We filled eight regular preserving jars with the product we received and had to discard about a third of it because we ran out of jars and had already bottled more than we could consume in a year. Even so, they're still a good deal, and you have complete control over the flavor.

Can that is horribly distorted? The top rim of the can was severely bulging and bent out of shape when it arrived
3/5

Although there were no signs of leakage on the box, I was planning to give these as a Christmas gift and was unsure if they were safe. The numbers on the top are TO127RI 16: I can't find an expiration date, but the numbers on the bottom are TO127RI 16: POO2709, n. d. , n. d. , n I shook the can and it was still full of liquid. If it were canned in the United States, this would be unacceptable. Clearly, the packaging should be re-evaluated and improved!.

I really wanted to like these because pickles are one of our favorite foods
3/5

They're not edible, though. I'm guessing it has something to do with the vinegar. I even tried draining them and smothering them in my own pickle juice, but it didn't work. I was taken aback by the positive feedback.

Can that has been dented? I had no idea how big this can was until it arrived, and I was completely taken aback
3/5

This gives you a lot of bang for your buck. The can, however, was dented on one side. It wasn't the worst dent I'd ever seen, but it was still noticeable. So just be aware of this, and if you're wary of dented canned food, I'd advise you to expect it.
