HI, The sugar in our Bonne Maman Preserves recipe is one percent brown cane sugar (derived from the cane plant) and one percent beet sugar. Naturally occurring sugars, both of which are refined, are made from plants. Sugars combined in this way have been part of our traditional all-purpose recipe for ages A natural recipe that contains all of the ingredients in the Bonne Maman recipe. We can assure you that NO artificial preservatives, dyes, or any high fructose corn syrup are used in our Bonne Maman recipe.
Sugar cane is the source of cane sugar, while sugar beets or sugar cane can be used to make granulated sugar. Sweeteners containing fructose do not appeal to me as much as those containing sugar. If there is one at all, the difference between cane sugar and sugar beet sugar is quite small.

In my opinion, these are more in the nature of jams rather than preserves, but they are very good! What you find at this store is better than what you'll find at big-box stores for mass consumption. There are mass market brands that sell products with little fruit in them they are more like jelly than jam or preserves and near syrup in consistency. There is no other jam like this one from Bon Mamam! I have only one slight reservation regarding the raspberry one, since it contains a high amount of seeds. However, I am not sure if anything can be done to address this, unless all the seeds are removed from the raspberry before making it into jelly. Raspberries do have a lot of seeds after all. They are fantastic! I especially like the cherry, strawberry, and blueberry!.
