The opposite is true. Zaatar, a Lebanese spice, is a mixture of herbs, sesame seeds, and salt.

About half is filled with cheap filler, such as The product, which sells for $30 per pound, contains sesame seeds, which is not expected. Zaatar goes for about $4-$6 a pound, so it makes sense that purest zaatar is about $4-$6 a pound For something like 50% grade zaatar, $5 per pound is reasonable in Lebanon, however $30 per pound is excessive in the US. For a product with a lot of potential, it would be a good idea to review its recipe and pricing policy. Generally, I think the taste of zaatar is decent (though not really my thing). Because it takes reasonably well as an oil when mixed with extra virgin olive oil, I gave it two stars instead of one.
Having this business in DC is like having a lucky star, and having the ability to order from it is like having a lucky star! A few decades ago, as a kid, I used to buy labne with olive oil and zaatar at Fairway Market in New York. This Zaatar, however, is of a much higher quality. Especially flavorful are sesame seeds that have been toasted. Whether it contains sumac, I'm not sure from other Zaatars I've had. However, I was surprised to get this in the large size! Call Your Mother (a deli in DC) uses this brand of za'atar for their za'atar bagels, so that's why I chose to purchase it. The brand I use has a rich flavor that is much better than the recipe I used to make my own za'atar with. After I ran out of the glass container I originally bought, I bought this bag instead. Add it to your hummus or make it into a BLT with cheese on bread.
I'm sold on both Z&S. They sell delicious spices under the brand Z. They have an incredibly flavorful za'atar and sumac that has almost a lemony tang to it. Through Amazon, I contacted them in regards to a problem with my order. I received a response from them within 24 hours, and the problem was more than resolved. Spice heaven is now my home, and you will be too when you try the fresh, authentic spices and spice blends from this company. This is a great product!.
Za'atar is one of the best things we can eat. There was a lot of flavor in the food we had. I love to sprinkle it on little doughs and bake with it, or I like to snack on it. There are few good za'atars to be found. We were able to accomplish our goal with this.
