Because I enjoy the licorice flavor of tarragon, I use it in almost everything I cook, including gravies and soups. It's particularly good in Italian dishes because it's similar to fennel, another licorice-flavored herb. And, because it's such a large amount, I can shake it all I want, lol! I believe it's supposed to complement basil and mint, based on some cooking shows I've seen. Simply try it in sauces and gravies, and if you don't like the flavor, keep trying it on different things until you find something you like!
No, our McCormick Culinary Mint Leaves aren't organically certified.

I was under the impression that it was a return item that was missing the sealant. This brand has been purchased by me in a physical store on numerous occasions. This is the first time I've ever seen it half-full. I got out my scale and it appears to be around 4 oz. However, thank you. I'm not sure if this will suffice for me to give my handcrafted herbs as gifts!.
This product is only about half-full when it arrives. Of course, there will be some settling, but this appears to be an excessively large package. It appears to be almost full in the photo.
It was my purchase of dry Tarragon that made me say "wow. " 'And, with Tarragon being so expensive that some grocers have stopped carrying it, this size was a real steal. ' However, at this size, I'd keep some in a glass jar with an airtight lid for easy access and the rest in an airtight bag in cold storage. Also, don't go overboard: I found that half as much was needed to achieve the same results, especially in delicate sauces, egg dishes, and poultry rubs. Try a small palmful finely crushed, blended with soft butter and lemon zest, and rubbed UNDER the skin of a roaster. The smell will attract neighbors you didn't even know you had.
In comparison to smaller containers, this is a great deal. The images on Amazon show the container completely filled, as others have pointed out. In reality, they store all of their spices and herbs in the same containers. Some of them have a higher density than others. "Filled By Weight" is clearly stated on the package. So, assuming they put 3, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. In the container, there are 5 ounces. On top of that, the labeling machine had to be re-calibrated during the packaging run. The label is correct, as you can see. (This is not a political statement. ) Finally, 35 oz is mentioned in the description. It ought to be three. 5 oz.
The price was great, but it didn't have the same strong aroma as other tarragon I've purchased. There was no escaping the fact that the tarragon smelled a little flat, so I took it out of the plastic bottle and placed it in a clalapsible plastic bag to remove the excess air. I'm confident that this will assist me in preserving the flavor that it currently has.
Mint is used in many of the recipes, which is why I bought it. In general, I prefer fresh ingredients that aren't always readily available, as this allows me to prepare meals that I enjoy. It's a nice addition to the shelf, and I'd buy it again.
I WAS TIRED OF GOING TO THE GROCERY STORE AND BUYING TARRAGON IN THE LITTLE GLASS BOTTLES FOR FOUR OR FIVE DOLLARS. SO I DECIDED TO GIVE IT A WHIRL WHEN I SAW IT. LOVE IT. THROW A LOT OF TARRAGON IN WITH THE PANKO AND FIRMLY PAT ON THE CHICKEN TO BAKE. EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, E JUST FOR THE CONVENIENCE OF IT, I WOULD BUY IT AGAIN.
