Sumac doesn't have any potassium, so it doesn't need it to pull out the sodium.
We have changed suppliers since 2015 and the 2019 product contains less than 1% salt for the curing process. This is stated on the product label as well as on Amazon.

We're pretty certain we didn't say "salt-free." We'll check and make any necessary corrections if you can be more specific about where you see salt-free.

I'm 68 years old, and the majority of the food I eat these days is anti-inflammatory. To keep pain and stiffness at bay, or at least reduced, anti-inflammatory medications should be used. The sumac is another way to accomplish this, and I noticed a difference in my knee and hip pain and stiffness after only a few days of use. When I ran out of money and had to wait a few days for more, When the pain was no longer supplied, it returned. I resumed using it, and the pain and stiffness vanished after a few days. SOLD!.
" It also contains salt (less than 1% as per the label indicates)! br>It also had a stale flavor, was ground too finely, and lacked the bright color of other bottled sumac. (The dark color in the Amazon photo matched the color of the spice when viewed through its clear glass jar exactly. ) ) It was a letdown.
It has a pleasant flavor that is not overpowering but nonetheless intriguing. My son, on the other hand, read the label, which stated that "this product may expose you to lead. " Why would a lead be present in an organic spice? Yuck!.
I'm Lebanese, and I wanted to use this spice in my Lebanese cooking, so I was overjoyed when I discovered it on Amazon in organic form. I was not let down in any way. It has a citrusy flavor when cooked and is fresh and aromatic. It goes well with olive oil-baked chicken breasts. This unusual spice from Spicely Organics comes highly recommended, and I will only buy it from Amazon from now on.
Sumac is a salty Middle Eastern snack that can be made simply by mixing it with twice as much oregano and extra virgin olive oil, then spreading it on pizza dough and baking it in the oven (watching it closely to avoid burning). So far, this sumac has been my favorite. It has antioxidant properties, so I've used it as a spice instead of (or in addition to) lemon juice.
The package now lists salt as an ingredient, but no amount is specified. The item description does not mention this. I've bought this before (at a lower price), and I'm pretty sure it didn't come with salt. It was both disappointing and misleading. I'm thinking of canceling all of my orders with this company.
After a fantastic meal at an Iranian restaurant, we fell in love with sumac and have been purchasing it for our spice rack ever since. It's delicious! This brand has a tangy, almost citrus flavor to it. a flavor that is similar to that of but is far more robust and full-bodied bodied. It works well with both meats and vegetables/starches. These jars were always in good condition.
He was accompanied by his mother and family. She prepared the most delectable dinners, many of which I had never experienced before. She gave me a small jar of sumac, but she couldn't tell me what it was called in English. For years, I carried a small baby food jar around with this in it, asking anyone who seemed to know what it was. I went to several gourmet shops, arabic stores, and other places, but no one was able to help me with my problem. She used it as a marinade for shish kabobs made with lamb or beef. It tastes nothing like any all spice I've ever tried, but now that I've discovered it, I'll be ordering it frequently. If you enjoy trying new flavors, this is a great place to start. The flavor is almost dill-like, and it lingers in the front of the mouth. It would be ideal for people on a sodium-restricted diet, in my opinion. It does not contain salt, but it stimulates the same area of the mouth as salt.
