Product Description

Sumac is a Middle Eastern shrub that produces deep red berries that are dried and ground into a coarse powder. Until the Romans introduced lemons to the area, the spice was widely used in Europe to add tartness to a variety of dishes.
Sumac is a common and important spice in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine. It's used in a variety of dishes, including dry rubs, marinades, and salad dressings. However, the best way to use it is to sprinkle it on top of food right before serving.
It goes well with vegetables, grilled lamb, chicken, and fish, among other things. Sumac is one of the main ingredients in the spice blend za'atar, and it's used to top fattoush salads as well as dips like hummus.
"Eat Well Premium Foods" offers delicious and healthy spices, herbs, and herbal teas.

Questions & Answers

Sumac was once thought to be poisonous and toxic. Why isn't this the case?

Sumac is divided into two types. The flowers on one are red, while the flowers on the other are white. White flowered varieties are poisonous, while red flowered varieties are edible. Fortunately, it's easy to tell which flowers are red when you're harvesting them. When it's not in bloom, stay away from Sumac unless you know it's the red flower variety from previous years.

If it's supposed to be so high in vitamin C, where is it?

It said it was high in vitamin C, which made me laugh. However, if you look at the nutrition information next to it, you'll notice that it's quite different. There is no vitamin C here 0%, it says. If I were loaded, I think it would say 1% or more than that. Personally, I'd like between 25 and 30 minutes. or more False advertising that is right in front of your eyes. What else could be wrong with their statement, I wonder?

How do I make sumac tea with this? Sumac powder got through the holes in a fine mesh tea ball. Or does it not matter if the powder is swallowed?

Thank you for your inquiry. It is not difficult to swallow the powder. Sumac powder, on the other hand, is beneficial to one's health.

Why does this have a salty flavor rather than just being tart?

My version is delicious; I adore it!

I eat it because it's good for my health
5/5

That's something you don't often hear about, and it's delicious! When I was looking for natural herbs or spices to help me get rid of phlegm, I came across sumac. I had no idea that eating it would provide me with a bonus. With the exception of national holidays, I work at our store six days a week. After work, my husband and our pets have a lot of things to do at home. I was so tired for a while that I just wanted to go home and crawl into bed. br>br>Even though I took HCL Betaine, Vitamin C, Vitamin B complex, Vitamin B6, Collagen, and rapid release Niacin every night with dinner, I was still tired. I ordered some sumac from a different company and began sprinkling about 1 - 2 tablespoons of it on each plant. 2 tsp. in everything I eat Sometimes I use it in a dip, and other times I just sprinkle it on whatever I'm eating. omelettes, chicken, fish, and so on. br>br>After a few days, I noticed that I had more stamina throughout the day and right up until bedtime; I wasn't "dragging" myself anymore, and the stamina was consistent. It doesn't keep me awake at night, as some stimulants do. My phlegm has greatly decreased, but the most important thing I've noticed is that I've had consistent stamina for more than two months. br>br>I love the freshness of this brand, and while it does taste a little saltier than some of the other sumacs I've tried, I think I'll order THIS again!.

Sumac is a flavor that I haven't tried before
5/5

I live in New Hampshire, and during the summer, I made Sumac tea. It reminds me of a mix of lemonade and iced tea. I'd never considered using the Sumac berries for anything else. This was how they were used by the local Native American Indians. I saw an article on Yahoo News about Sumac being used as a spice and decided to give it a try. It is excellent. Instead of the Italian seasoning I usually use, I like to use them with stir-fried vegetables. Someone mentioned that this brand was high in sodium; however, there is no added sodium in this; instead, the sodium comes from the Sumac berries themselves - Other brands, I'm guessing, don't mention the sodium content because they don't add any.

A dash of spice is required in every life! I used to spend far too much time looking at sumac recipes
5/5

I was hesitant to try it because of the high cost of those tiny little jars. I am so grateful that buying in bulk at a low price finally broke down my resistance. I'm not sure how to describe the flavor, but it reminds me of a mild paprika with a subtle lemon undertone. I've tried it on salads, meats, and vegetable dishes in a variety of ways, sometimes alone and sometimes with other spices. It didn't let me down. br>I'm excited to learn more about different flavors and spices.

What a delicious treat! It smells and tastes fantastic
5/5

Sumac for the first time. When I watch Turkish kabop recipes and restaurant menus, I keep seeing that red stuff on onions and salads. Sumac is the name I finally came up with. Adana salad (a Turkish salad) was pulled. It was combined with thinly sliced onions, parsley, minced tomatoes, a pinch of salt, and a squeeze of lemon juice. oh mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn Sumac has a tangy flavor to it. It's fantastic. The value for money is excellent. For a pound of meat, you can expect to pay $11. Keep up the fantastic spice work. A big thumbs up!.

I find that it aids in the reduction of my insulin resistance
5/5

Sumac, according to several studies, aids the body's insulin utilization. Insulin resistance is a problem for me. In addition, sumac aids in the control of my blood sugar. I'm not claiming that this is a cure for anything; I'm simply sharing my personal experience.

This was bland in my opinion
4/5

I had bought the smaller bottle version of their sumac, which was a darker color, and used about 2 table spoons per cut of food until I used salt. The new larger bag contained redder berries, had no smell or taste, and the first dish I made was tasteless. br>br>The new bigger bag contained redder berries, had no smell or taste, and the first dish I made was tasteless. I used 3 plus table spoons per cut of meat the second time and added salt, and it tasted almost as good as the smaller bottle. I was overjoyed that I didn't have to return it. (This time, I also added some cumin and pepper, which helped. ).

This is a spice that we use on a regular basis in our kitchen
5/5

In our cooking, we enjoy experimenting with new herbs and spices. We'd eaten at a local Lebanese restaurant a few times before and were intrigued by the reddish powder on top of our hummus and baba ganoush. We inquired as to the spice's identity. We bought some from a local store after hearing this. We now use it to cook chicken, pork, and fish with. The flavor isn't overpowering, but it's noticeable. Buying this gave me the opportunity to stock up on spices and have more than enough on hand in my spice cabinet. We'll buy from you again without a doubt. Thank you.
