There is no indication on the package whether the ground poppyseed is kosher or not. Regards, Joe, br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>
Every order of ground poppy seeds is freshly ground to your specifications. They should last three to four months in the freezer if kept in an airtight package. Two to three months if kept refrigerated in their original packaging. For the best, most fresh flavor, we recommend using them as soon as possible.
To be honest, it depends on the recipe, and the seeds should be "bloomed" with boiling water according to the instructions. Because the seeds are usually added to a moist batter in baking recipes, there is no need to soak them in boiling water.
This is a dark color.

Finally, someone sells ground poppy seeds, which is a high-quality product. Whole poppy seeds are sold by everyone else. In my German Mohnkuchen recipe, it turned out to be delicious.
Unfortunately, the ground poppyseeds that I received are not fresh, smell and taste rancid, and I will not be able to use them in my holiday baking. This item isn't returnable, according to Amazon. Instead, I wish I had the opportunity to write a more positive review. I still have a small amount left that I bought from a European Deli over a year ago and kept in the freezer. I'm very disappointed and unhappy that I won't be able to return it because it smells and tastes exactly like it did a year ago.
I opened the packages to try them before I started baking our big favorite, the Hungarian "bejgli" for Christmas, and both items went straight to the trash after I received them yesterday. The taste was rancid, and the package had no warranty (due to the fact that it had expired). It was a waste of money.
This was something I was looking forward to, so I ordered two packs. I'm a Czech expat (the Czech Republic is one of the world's largest producers of poppies), and this is something I used to eat all the time, but it's difficult to find in the US. Despite the package's claim of "freshly ground," this isn't ground at all, much to my dismay! The seeds are mostly whole, with some grinding dust thrown in for good measure. They're also old and a little grumpy. There will be no more.
It was the second time I bought it, and both times the ground poppy seeds were excellent. Some reviewers have expressed dissatisfaction with the product, claiming that it lacks freshness and has a bitter taste. Poppy seeds have a bitter flavor in general, and when ground, the flavor becomes more pronounced, which is what makes them so unique. The seeds I received were fresh, and I will purchase them again if the seller does not raise the price. br>I freeze the ground poppy seeds, but only for a short time - It's one of my favorite things to bake with.
It's hard for me to believe it was rancid. MIL's poppy seed rolls were ready to be made. Bummer. Money squandered.
I was overjoyed to be able to order these to save time grinding poppyseeds for my annual poppyseed coffee cakes. When I poured them into my cooking pot, they appeared whole rather than ground, as they do when I grind them myself, but I decided to trust them and cook them anyway. I added my milk and sugar and cooked as usual, but it was clear they wouldn't come together and form the "paste" that happens when the ground poppyseeds absorb the milk while cooking. This was a disjointed gloppy shambles. I was about to throw it all away when I remembered that I had a Vitamix mixer and decided to grind the milk/poppyseed mixture in batches until it looked like it should have in the first place. They don't even have a fresh flavor to them. So much for saving time; I would not recommend this product if you are looking for freshly ground poppyseeds because they are not ground to any standard and taste off to me, almost rancid.
Have you ever tried to find poppyseed in a can? I'm pretty sure it doesn't exist. br>Have you ever tried purchasing it once you've found it? Who's got the cash? br>You found poppyseed, but now you have to grind it into powder? br>br>This stuff is amazing: perfectly ground, fresh, and delicious. I'm so glad I found it and wish I had 8 years ago.
