Yes, this Eat Well Sumac contains added salt; if you prefer your sumac without added salt, do not purchase this brand.
We've been using Sumac with the majority of the foods we've purchased from a local Middle Eastern market. This one, on the other hand, was salty. It didn't taste particularly good, as if it had been sitting on their shelves for quite some time.
It's a dry spice, not a wet one.
It makes no mention of nuts.

This is NOT high-quality Sumac, as I've been using it for over 40 years. It's something I'm not even sure of! It has a greasy texture, is lumpy, and lacks the astringent, clean flavor of high-quality Sumac. In fact, it has a sweet dish detergent flavor to it. I'm not sure if it's because the plastic jar was left in a hot environment for too long or what. ALAS! br>br> I was so excited to sprinkle it on my dinner salad for that wonderful tart flavor.
The package was open when it arrived. This purchase has left me very disappointed. The top of the bottle was missing, and the safety seal in the lid was broken when it arrived. The contents of the shipping envelope are strewn all over the place. Unusable in every way. And non- It is refundable.
Simmering the food for 15 minutes. I'm still figuring out how much to use in some of my recipes, as well as which flavor profiles it complements best. It pairs well with dark meats, as well as cumin and/or smoked paprika-based dishes.
It was the first time I'd ever heard of it. It was very good. br>br>So I bought it and was pleasantly surprised to find that the flavor was nearly identical to that of the packaged sauce. Because I don't know how it tastes with everything, I'll need to find a good recipe to try it with. For potato/beef combinations, I used both the package and two bottles of sumac. Other recipes were not found after a quick search.
When I opened it to find a hole and sumac spilling out, I realized the product seal had been broken. I guess I just squandered my money because this item does not allow returns or refunds. Be careful who you buy from.
I use this sumac on salads, wraps, and lamb because it tastes so fresh and bright. It's amazing how a small amount can make such a big difference in the flavor. It arrived on time, in good condition, and I'm very pleased with the quality! The moisture content indicates that it was freshly made. This isn't sumac salt, but pure ground sumac, as the ingredients list indicates; highly recommended!.
I now use it in almost every dish I prepare, and I adore the lemony flavor it imparts. It's become a permanent fixture in my spice cabinet!.
My Lebanese relatives raved about Zaatar. I found a recipe for it online and ordered the two ingredients I had never used before from Amazon. Sumac is an example of one of them. This product matches my friends' descriptions, but I have no prior experience with it. The flavor appeals to me, and it is certainly lemony. Based on how much I enjoyed it, I gave it five stars. The Zaatar was delicious when I made it. Sumac gave it a distinct flavor that reminded me of Middle Eastern food I'd previously eaten. Sumac is much more plentiful than I anticipated, making it very affordable, and I will be able to make a lot of Zaatar in the future.
