I recently ordered Crystallized Ginger by D'Allesandro, a 5 LB bag, and it was awesome. This is the second time I've said this When I ordered the same product this week, I got a product from the "Candy Store". * This product has little ginger taste and a lot of I received an item in which the bag had not been sealed and was open at the top when I received it. As a result, I will throw this.

This is an acceptable price for 5 lbs of beef. The pros are You will get a strong ginger flavor from these, so if you like a spicy taste, you will like them. The price is also affordable. Having a weight of 4 lbs means it costs about half what you might pay for a small 6 oz packet at the supermarket. The problem is. The cons are There's no great quality to be found here. At best, I'd say it's marginal. All of the slices seem to be a bit dried out, but some of them seem more so. You can mostly bend the slices, but they just snap when bent. Some of the slices are very fibrous as well. In a few cases, they were so severe that one could only chew them so as to get the flavor and spit the stringy residue out afterwards. The best ones I've found do not contain sulfite preservatives, but it's hard to find them. Is it likely I would repurchase these? These are maybe OK as snacks, but might work well in a curry (if fresh ginger isn't available) or if you don't care about the texture and are just interested in ginger's purported health benefits, then maybe. Anyhow, I might experiment with other brands before returning to this one, even if their cost is a bit higher, just to see how they compare to this one.

I agree that you can soak them for 10 minutes to get rid of the enormous amount of sugar on them. The ginger is embedded with so much toxic material that there is no way to get most of it off by rubbing. You're making yourself a diabetic if you eat these. The friend of the hypoglycemic.
