The e-mail I received said its best by July 02, 2021, and I bought mine on July 30th, 2020. I believe this is the case. Unlike expiration dates, the best before date is not a reference

Despite being delivered in a factory box, I did not receive an aftermarket shipping box from Bob's Red Mill. According to my memory, the best-by dates were the same for all four bags, April 16, 2021. Towards the end of June 2020, I purchased this item. While I don't know if it's brand new stock, I'll use all of it before then, due to the fact that I eat it on a daily basis. It seems that the actual product I received is also very fresh. After scooping it out of the bag, it heaped very well on the spoon, suggesting that the essential oils were not dried out (not burned). My guess is that it has been packaged recently, since it went directly from the mill to the bag. In retrospect, I recall the last batch of ground flax I bought (not from Amazon or Red Mill). It was very drier and almost ran off the spoon because there were not as many preserved oils to keep it from crumbling. Although, I wasn't disappointed with the last batch, I was surprised by the high quality of this one. This is an excellent product!.

There are 4 bags in all. This is an absolutely rancid product. I stocked up on Bob's because we've ordered from them online many times without issue. We were unable to open the other three bags due to rancidity. I'm not sure where they were kept, or how they got there, but there's no telling if a repeat of this could happen. We were unable to return the items. The entire $25 is a waste. This is a huge disappointment. The next time I order flax online I will not buy it.
Bob's Red Mill has been on my shopping list for years, and I've never had any complaints about their products. On the other hand, the supplier who shipped this order simply attached the shipping label to the display box and sent it out. As of the time of delivery, this product arrived with all flaps wide open and bag after bag of product exposed to the elements and handling risks. Food products are considered a risky product to store, and I would think they should come in overpack boxes to protect against It was a good thing that the bags were.
They are prevented from causing those problems when they are ground. In addition to being great tasting, the flavor is also great! I received this yesterday and opened it this morning - it was already open. It is better to open the box flaps by pulling them instead of using a knife. A slit could be seen on the top of one of the bags. The inside of the box was covered in flaxseed meal. If the bag is opened, I can't use the product There would be no safety in it. It would take a lot of time or energy to run all over town on Christmas Eve, especially this Christmas Eve, looking for My need for it today is urgent. It will just be a matter of using the three unopened bags and letting the fourth one go to waste. I am not trying to be facetious. As an avid buyer, I was so excited to see this product for sale, and I was so disappointed after I received it. It seems that I'd be better off finding a reliable supplier of flaxseed meal down the road.
