It was time to make chili, so I went looking for chili powder. On the basis of rave reviews, I chose to buy this. There are three different chili dishes I had trouble making because of this chili powder blend. In addition to the lack of boldness, there is an awkward bitter-sweet tone to it. I like how it tastes like sugar. As far as ruining my recipes goes, I mean that recipes that I have used for five years now tasted so different (in a negative way) after using this chili powder blend instead of regular chili powder, which I normally buy at the grocery You may want to look elsewhere for chili powder if you are looking for it.
I know that for sure! Because of the fair prices and generally pleasing flavors offered by Frontier's bulk organic spices, I have purchased many of them. However, this 'chili blend powder' that they sell is not. My expectation was for a rich, satisfying chili flavor, but it's not what I got! I found the taste to be strange and disappointing. If you plan to use this blend as your primary flavoring ingredient, I recommend that you test it first in a small sample and then blindly add it to the recipe based on the measurement or taste it on the tip of your finger before making your final judgement. You can just taste the funky taste in Because of the addition of cumin, I believe that it is the cause of the issue. Spices like cumin don't appeal to me, nor do I use them. It's very very old and I think I still have a bottle of it somewhere in my cupboard that I should toss out. I like cumin because it adds a very strange taste to my food that sounds like "old socks. ". If I were to decide to add it to a "chili blend", I would NEVER have done so. I wish I had realized that it's one of the ingredients in Frontiers blend, along with the chilis and garlic (both of which are great).
I found a very flavorful organic chili powder called "Los Chileros Organic New Mexico Red Chili Powder" that is absolutely amazing and I am using it on whatever I can! This curry has a deep, rich chili flavor with a hint of sweetness. I am absolutely enamored with this! I regret to say, but I cannot recommend the Frontier Organic Chili Blend comfortably at this time. I feel like Frontier really missed the mark on this one, or at least according to my taste buds.

My wife and I have used it in chili (of course) as well as There are some things we really like about As a matter of fact, we have purchased it multiple times. I highly recommend this product. We both like the taste, but we also like the freshness. The spice is well balanced and quite hot, but just enough that you get a little burn, but plenty of flavor. For me, flavor is far better than heat any day of the week.
I really wanted this to be a wonderful product. We live out in the middle of nowhere, so anything organic is not feasible. Natural Grocers is a store we usually frequent for their organic chili powder (in their store brand). The flavor of this wasn't awful, but I didn't feel that it added much to the dish as it wasn't particularly fancy. If you used this as an ingredient with other items, I think it was fine, but it didn't stand out. Furthermore, the bag is not resealable, so you will need to put it into another container, which is a bit of a nuisance. I would be there again now since there is no other option, however, what it does offer isn't enough to compete with what we've experienced in the past.

Not all chili powders are the same, however, therefore I was hesitant to buy it in bulk before I tried it. However, it has been pleasantly surprising to me. This recipe has some spices you don't find too often, like clove and allspice, but they are important in adding depth to the taste. This blend has a mild hint of spice to it and a bold, rich flavor that makes everything from marinades to soups taste amazing. I use it at least once a week, and sometimes more.
