This package of rye seeds is a good deal and are probably fine to cook with. This product does NOT smell good. There is no smell of caraway seeds at all. I also didn't notice any flavor. WHO ARE THESE? HOW OLD ARE THEY? It is also a good idea to sift and wash it before using. In the bag, there were several black stones, some of which appeared like rodent feces, seeds that didn't look like caraway, a small piece of clear plastic, and so on. I love the aroma and taste of these caraway seeds. The ones we typically buy from stores are significantly better than those purchased at the store. As well as grinding them, we use them whole when making bread. They are also used whole in Sauerkraut, and we have used them in other recipes. The quality of these products is excellent. It was tasty. You get a ridiculous amount of caraway seed for such a low price at the grocery store. The reason why I use lots of it is that I add it to my fresh sauerkraut batch (1 Tb per 5 lbs, or even more). In this case, you are the only one who can get seed without paying exorbitant prices.
