Questions & Answers
Yes, the brine bags are thick enough that they do not easily tear when I fill them with a 24 pound turkey.
Yes. I usually use string to tie the legs of the turkey. The bag was then held together with additional strings. The bag can be closed using those two blue clips as well.
Not sure. They're quite large, so I'm not sure they'd be suitable for sous vide cooking. For that reason, we always vacuum-seal.

I'm trying to get ready for Thanksgiving and didn't like how I was brining my turkeys before, so I came across these bags and decided to give them a shot. The bags are large and thick right out of the box. The zipper zips up tight every time, and it even has a zip helper to make zipping a breeze. It's difficult to convey the beauty of these in photos, so I made a quick video to demonstrate. I do a lot of turkey and try to buy the biggest one I can find, and this one will easily hold it. There are no drawbacks; the bags are fantastic, and I am very pleased with my purchase.
I had no idea what to expect when I bought these bags for my first brined turkey, but I took a chance and bought them anyway. I made my own brine by modifying several recipes I found online, and because I cook my turkey overnight from Wednesday to Thursday, I brined it for about 24 hours from Tuesday to Wednesday, then stuffed, wrapped, and roasted it at 250 degrees for 14 hours (26 pound bird) - On Thanksgiving morning, the aroma in the house was UNREAL, and I wanted to eat dinner at 7 a. m. LOL. The turkey was cooked to perfection, juicy and tender to the point of melting in your mouth. The brine's flavors, such as the citrus and herbs I used, were discernible. It was, without a doubt, the most delicious turkey I've ever cooked. I purchased two brine bags and am looking forward to preparing next year's bird!! Alternatively, find a reason to cook a turkey before then.
This product was purchased after my first attempt to brine a turkey for our Thanksgiving feast, as the brine bag material is very thick and can undoubtedly be reused many times. The brining solution was enough to cover a 15 pound turkey in the bag. The turkey is large enough to fit in the bag. The issue is that the weight of the brine water and turkey is quite heavy, making it difficult to close the bag; the bag was secured with the included butcher's twine, and I'm not sure how the Zip-Lock worked. The kit includes a lock that can be used. br>br>While the instructions were fairly clear, understanding how to use the brine bag took some trial and error, so only 4 stars were given.
I bought these on the spur of the moment, hoping they'd work, and they did. br>This year, we brined two turkeys for Thanksgiving. The smaller one weighed 12 pounds, while the larger one weighed 21. The pack includes two extra large bags, which were perfect for the 21lb turkey with brine. I also added two extra wings to the bag with the 21lb turkey, which fit perfectly. They're also simple to close and don't leak at all. Normally, we purchase the more expensive William- But no more Sonoma bags for me. For the price and durability, I will continue to purchase these.
This is, without a doubt, the best brining bag I've ever used. The plastic is extremely thick, and the seams are extremely strong. With plenty of room to spare, I fit a 24 pound turkey and a 7 pound bone-in breast into one bag. I also used 2 gallons of brine. Although the bags come with clamps and twine to close them, I found that the zipper alone was sufficient.
For Thanksgiving, I brined a 12 pound turkey. In comparison to other containers, I required less brine by volume. I tightly closed, tied, and clamped the bag. It could not have been easier, and I saved space in the fridge by putting it in a cooler and covering it with ice. There was no need to clean the cooler. Yahoo!.
I brined a 20-pound turkey and had room for more; it was heavy duty, with no fear of rips or tears. It could theoretically be washed for a second use, but I found it difficult to clean, especially indoors, and in order to avoid contamination of future meats, I simply tossed it and will buy more when I need it.
I wanted to brine my turkey for Thanksgiving but couldn't find a bag that was both strong and large enough. These were extremely successful. I also appreciated the bag's reinforcement by zipping it, as well as the fact that it came with string and a 'chip clip' to prevent leakage. It was well worth the expense.
