Shadwood used to make a great Tandoori spice mix that they no longer make, so I tried Tandoori Masala as a replacement. This was not a disappointment for me. It was delicious! I loved the chicken from Tandoor! In addition to the vinegar, canola oil, lemon juice, and plain yogurt, a good combination for the marinade would be 4 heaping tsp of Tandoori Masala plus 4 generous tbsp of lemon juice. Reviewers gave this a positive review, so I bought it. I find that the cumin and paprika spice blend tends to be overwhelming in the masala. As a result, the purchase was disappointing. Also from Amazon I purchased tandoori masala made by Frontier, a product that had a much better taste than the Frontier brand. In addition to the larger bottle, there is a smaller bottle as an add-on. If you are simply trying to make tandoori chicken for the first time, I recommend Frontier brand.

To those who do not eat beef, I apologize (hoping not to offend them). My ground beef (lamb) was seasoned with salt and pepper and grilled with onions. I added about 1/8 cup + on top of the ground beef. As well as Mayo, sliced tomato, and Trader Joe's mango and ginger chutney, I served it on a toasted bun. He loves it. It's one of his favorites.

Despite the fact that it was made with spices, the mixture was very tasty. In common with a previous reviewer, we used to love the spice mixture that Sharwood used to make. After it was discontinued some years ago, we tried several other alternatives, but they were all very bland. Among the ones we found, this was the first one we were not disappointed with. Tandoori is not intended to be spicy in the sense of being hot, so it is a good option for individuals unfamiliar with Indian cuisine. A family reunion potluck at which we served Tandoori chicken saw everyone love it when we took it with us on a trip to visit relatives.

A year or two ago, my all-time favorite Tandoori spice was Sharwoods, which is no longer available. The company I settled on was Spicy World after I tried a great many others. Although it isn't Sharwood's, it is quite acceptable in a marinade, particularly if it is a high percentage of the mix.

As a general rule, I do not like spice blends It is more convenient for me to add them individually- In the meantime, I have purchased this spice mix again since making my first purchase, since I find it to be very versatile. Make a mixture of this spice and plain yogurt. Don't be afraid to add a lot of spice. Place a few packages of chicken thighs on the slathered and coated sauce. Don't hold back.
