Our family uses it every day and it's great to find it online. We run out every year since we go to Croatia every two years to see our family, where it's made, and we only buy it there. Spices we use in the instant pot and for soup.
In regards to Vegeta, it is similar to the Maggi Seasoning solution (a liquid similar to soy sauce used in Asian cooking). It is used like bouillon powder to flavor meats, soups, stews, even mashed potatoes. In typical Serbian sausages such as cevapcici, which is a hand-rolled sausage with no skin, it's utilized as a seasoning. MSG is an ingredient in it, so it's sort of like bouillon powder, because it has MSG in its top ingredients as well. Thus, if you prefer not to consume MSG, do not use this product. There is a characteristic Croatian seasoning in this It is usually sold in bags of 500g (1 lb) and this is a very small can of 8 oz. There is no magic potion, but a little does go Season food with this powder as you would bouillon powder.
When cooking with it, you don't need to use a lot. My dislike for vegetables is really strong, but when I sprinkled a tiny amount of this over them after they were cooked, it made the taste fantastic. You do not have to add salt to anything you prepare with the spice because it does contain salt, even if it isn't a lot. Add it to vegetables or even meats and soup to bring out a wonderful flavor.
In reading about uses for this, I learned it was widely used in Europe, and I was using it in a recipe. The price is a little high, but a little goes a long Essentially, it's like chicken bouillon with veggies added, and the flavor is great. I would like to use this regularly- I think that it is on my list of things to use - The recipe calls for beef bouillon instead. In addition to being vegan, this product is also.
The value of the product is excellent. This kind of stuff is great. Spice racks are always a necessity in my house. Chicken rice, veggies, and more are all great with this product. Besides being great all around seasoning, it's not overly salty either.
A fish stew was seasoned with this by Victor, who is from Slovenia. The first thing I tried was it on everything, even breakfast! Being a vegetarian it was a perfect fit for me. Since I was a blooded southerner, this required a leap of faith on my part. This seasoning is very versatile, so I am glad I tried it.
I had assumed the 17 was this. Not a five ounce or 500g size. This is more of an eight ounce size. This product weighs approximately 250 grams/8 ounces. Despite the fact that it is my own fault for not reading, I won't place another order. For a few dollars or two less than this smaller one, you can get a larger version with double the amount at World Market or other specialty groceries.
She used it to season her soups and she was a first generation Hungarian (to the USA). The only place we could purchase it back in the day was in Hungarian markets. The fact that this is available on Amazon was great news to me. My favorite way to use this is to season home-made chicken soup, but I think it would go well with any savory dish.
