The total cost of the order is around $33 for 12 boxes. My first order was for ONE BOX of rice, not 12 boxes, so I placed another order. I only received ONE box of rice, not the 12 boxes that were described in the ordering description (and the price reflects 12 boxes). After initially stating that they were unable to correct the order, Customer Service stated that the 12 boxes would be delivered to me and that I would not be required to return the two single boxes I had received. I got a SINGLE box of rice this time. So, after spending $33 on three boxes of rice, am I crazy to order it again in a month or so?.
I put a family size package of chicken thighs in the crockpot with a bottle of Trader Joe's Verda Salsa and cooked on high for 4 hours. Then I added the seasoning packet and couscous from the box, stir well, cover, and cook according to package directions. There's no need to add anything because the oil from the chicken is already present. Turn off the heat and set aside for a few minutes to allow the couscous to expand before serving. I will most certainly buy from you again.
ups- it's incredibly simple to make and tastes fantastic. This is fantastic. We eat this at least once a week, and everyone enjoys it. It's incredibly simple to put together. We don't even use the stove for it, which is great in the Florida heat. We don't need to boil water because we already have enough humidity. ), we simply boil water in our electric kettle, place the cous cous and seasoning pack in a glass storage container with a little olive oil, stir in the boiling water, close the storage container, and the cous cous is fluffy, tender (not crunchy or undone), and ready to eat in a few minutes. We store any leftovers in the refrigerator for the next night's meal. For us, this is just a basic, beautiful staple. I grew up eating Pastina, and this is very similar, with the same lovely creamy/buttery flavor; it's a much healthier way to get some of that comfort food feeling.
It's a fantastic accompaniment to fish. It was delicious! It's also incredibly simple to make - This can be cooked by anyone who can boil water. Although most people serve it as a side dish, it is practically the entire meal in our house. I serve it with halibut or salmon, as well as cooked vegetables (or, on occasion, a salad in place of the cooked vegetables). Oh, my goodness, this is fantastic!.
This is a fantastic, if little-known, product that we have used for years but that is no longer available in our area. We follow the directions on the box, but add freshly grown organic parsley and vine ripened tomatoes, which we also grow year around. I would have had to find a source if I hadn't found it on Amazon, so I'm glad we were able to obtain it! If you haven't tried this product yet, I strongly advise you to do so because it has an excellent flavor and texture. It's sold in cases to us.
This couscous is one of my favorites because it is simple to prepare and delicious. My only gripe is with the packaging. The couscous is packaged directly inside a cardboard box, with no plastic bag. While this is good for the environment, these thin boxes are easily damaged (or simply not well made), and couscous bits fall out even when the boxes appear to be fully closed. It's a real pain.
This, as well as the other flavors of Near East brand couscous, is incredibly tasty and simple to make. The Roasted Garlic and Olive Oil flavor is perhaps the most versatile, as it goes with almost anything, but I particularly enjoy the Mediterranean Curry Couscous, as I prepare many Middle Eastern dishes. I occasionally come across them in grocery stores, but most of them stock Near East rice and couscous only on rare occasions. I've developed a habit of ordering a 12-pack of both on Amazon because it saves me money compared to ordering smaller quantities or even buying them in the store. Having that many on hand isn't a problem for me because I use them so frequently. These products are fantastic!.
