Questions & Answers

Are these made from natural ingredients?

Although they aren't organic, they are non-organic. GMO means "probably much less" glyphosate than on glyphosate-free crops. GMO produce that is resistant Glyphosate residue was detected as "ND" (none detected) when I sent some to a lab. ) It doesn't bother me.

What is the most efficient method of storing these? I'm curious as to how resistant the jute bag is to rodents, bugs, and other pests. ?

It is critical to have enough storage space. Beans are kept in my pantry. 2 ways to prepare legumes: Snapware containers (a 17 cup one, I believe, will hold the 5 lbs of lentils) in the cupboard Then there's the less-than-glamorous option of using a gamma-lidded food-safe bucket. Because I purchase 20 pounds of soybeans at a time for soy milk, I use both methods. Beans that I only buy in small quantities and don't use very often are placed in a Ziploc bag and then dumped into the bucket with the soybeans after a trip to the freezer. I keep soybeans in a smaller canister that I keep on hand. br>As for the jute bag, here's what I found out: not. There is a plastic bag inside the jute bag, but once you open it, you'll want to store them somewhere airtight.

A five-pound bag contains how many cups? I'm attempting to determine whether or not the entire bag will fit in my storage containers. ?

I got 7 grams of dry lentils by weighing a level cup of them. 05 oz. That works out to about 11. For the entire 5 pound bag, you'll need 35 cups.

Do they come in a sealed package? I couldn't tell based on the appearance of the bag. Purchasing in large quantities. Thanks! ?

They are not airtight because they are packed in a cloth drawstring bag. It's my second order because I'm so happy with the high sprouting percentage.

Smells like a strong chemical
3/5

These came in a nice burlap bag, but the formaldehyde smell is unbearable. I moved it to a well-ventilated garage, but it's still overwhelming after four days. These will be thrown away. I'm not sure I could eat these!.

It's so delicious! It's possible that this substance will cause cancer
3/5

12- Updated on January 18: I reached out to the firm. They aren't made from natural resources. I believe glyphosate (RoundUp) was used in harvest because the gentleman who responded to my email was so defensive about it. He claimed that because glyphosate is not prohibited by the WHO, they are free to use it, despite the fact that the WHO classifies it as a probable carcinogen. What difference does it make what field it was grown in if you have no idea what chemicals were used on it? I'm so disappointed because I really like the flavor and texture of these lentils, but I'm not going to eat them. Purchase them once more. Probably the best-tasting lentils I've ever had in my seven decades of lentil consumption. Because of the Food Alliance's certification and the fact that it is not a for-profit organization, I waived my usual organic requirement in favor of GMO certification. accreditation br>7/24/16 I just received my second shipment of these delectable lentils. I'm trying to use up the lentils I had in the pantry before making my first Palouse purchase, but they simply don't compare to Palouse Brand lentils. In addition to all of the nutritional benefits of lentils, the Palouse brand is consistently delicious. As a Christmas present, I'm considering sending £5 to each of my four siblings. They're packaged in a lovely burlap bag that adds a nice finishing touch. (However, I keep mine in glass jars in a dark pantry. ) ) What? Do you think a box of gourmet cheese would be more appropriate?.

Purchase the burlap bag at your own risk! I had previously purchased these lentils in a 4 pound paper bag and enjoyed the flavor so much that I decided to purchase the larger size, which comes in a burlap bag
3/5

A MAJOR MISTAKE! The lentils absorb a chemical, plastic odor from the bag. Little hair-like fibers are also left in the lentils by the bag. I thoroughly sorted and rinsed the lentils in the hopes of preserving their edible quality. There will be no such luck. My lentil soup has a strong chemical, plastic flavor to it. It's revolting! And it's so disappointing that I just threw away all of these good vegetables for a soup.

UPDATE: I'm a huge fan of these lentils
5/5

These lentils are one of my favorite foods. It's probably the first time I've ever had lentils this fresh and flavorful! Soup and lentil patties were on the menu today! I'm hoping I don't run out of them any time soon! I placed an order for garbanzo beans and am confident that I will not be disappointed! As a vegan, I have a special fondness for fresh and savory legumes! I'm only sorry I didn't discover these lentils earlier! br>br>Last week, I received another 25-pound bag of flour, and I decided to make soup with it today! It's been a bitterly cold winter! I had some fresh corn from the farm, so I put it in the soup! So delicious was the soup broth! I'm not even going to think about buying any other lentils! I was so fortunate to find these on Amazon! These lentils, believe me, are unrivaled in the market! This business is very proud of its products, and the taste is the result of their efforts! Palouse Brand is a brand that I will continue to buy from!.

I've discovered that sprouted lentils make a delicious snack
5/5

These are for sprouting, which is why I bought them. I've discovered that sprouted lentils make a delicious snack. They're a lot more delectable than the cooked versions. It only takes four days for them to sprout. These seeds were healthy and viable, and they sprouted on time. They came in a nice bag and were well worth the money I paid for them. I also liked that they were grown in Washington State in the United States, that they were organic, and that they were not irradiated or treated in any way. They were clean and didn't need to be rinsed all the time. I'll show you how I sprout them just for fun for the next reader. I soak them for 8 hours in a quart of water with 1/2 cup lentils. Then I drain them and rinse them a couple of times in a quart jar with a rubber banded opening and tiny plastic screening. I set the jar on its side and rinse the contents every time I walk by the sink - 2 times per day is about right. On the second day, you'll notice sprouts on them. They're ready to eat by the fourth day. Serve as a garnish on salads, a topping for soups, or a snack by the handful. I keep them in a ziploc bag with a bounty towel folded in the bottom in the fridge.

This is my second order of this excellent product
5/5

The first was quite some time ago (I believe it was two years ago?). The first order lasted until now, and the only reason it took me so long to use them was because I assumed they needed to be soaked overnight, which I never have time to do, so I forgot about them. I recently discovered them while cleaning out my pantry and decided to try making soup with them without soaking them by tossing them in a pot with water. They did, and I went through them in a matter of months. I've attached a recipe I came up with that uses only water and some fresh sautéed garlic and onion to make an earthy broth from brown lentils.

Make a test run and add more simmer time to a Mario Butagillio lentil soup recipe
3/5

I bought "old lentils" from Wegmans in New York. The meal was delicious, and the recipe was perfect. SO. I placed an order for these lentils. As a result of the altitude, I increased the cooking time by 20 minutes. However, even after an additional hour of cooking, these lentils did not soften. I'll update my review if the lentils become more "soft" and flavorful. UPDATE: In response to my email, the company has offered to send a replacement bag or issue a refund. In the meantime, I let the soup "soak" overnight before continuing to simmer it for another hour. I simply suggest you try a recipe starting at least an hour earlier than the directions suggest; I left the stars as is because, well, the lentils were so difficult to deal with and didn't taste as good as the ones in my first batch; I simply suggest you try a recipe starting at least an hour earlier than the directions suggest; I simply suggested you try a recipe starting at least an hour earlier than the directions suggest; I simply suggested you try a recipe starting at least an hour earlier than the directions suggest; I simply suggested.

There are no brown mushrooms to be found here
5/5

The Outcomes Speak for Theirselves. In contrast to store-bought merchandise, These lentils are firm and tasty after cooking, unlike store-bought lentils. This is significant to me because it can mean the difference between having a large pot of delicious lentil leftovers for days or brown, mashed potato soup. br>br>From the moment you open the bag, you'll notice how unique these lentils are. Compared to store-bought lentils, these are smaller, more colorful, and less dull. ones that were purchased They'll be ready to cook right out of the bag if you just wash and rinse them. You'll be able to tell the difference.
