The lentils turned out to be excellent. I'd never tried black lentils before, but they've become my new favorite. They cook like other lentils, but leech out a purple color, similar to black rice, and have a plumper texture than other lentils (which is what most people dislike about lentils). It also has a good flavor. br>The packaging is my only qualm. I ordered five bags of lentils, and three of them were leaking into the shipping box due to shipping holes. The bag in which these are packaged is similar to a standard flour paper bag, but it is less durable; Your finger would go right through it if you poked it with your finger. When I first got them, I had to move them to large storage containers.
These were just delivered to me this morning. Very well-kept. 1 cup went straight into my Instant Pot with 3 cups water and a tablespoon of Better than Bullion for 8 minutes on high pressure, 15 minutes on natural release, and a cold rinse. After being drained, it yielded nearly 3 cups. Wow! How good are they? I'm making Cowboy Caviar and can't seem to stop "sampling. " I'm hoping there are enough for my recipe; they're so fresh that even 8 minutes pressure was too long; next time (and the next time) I'll use 6 or 7 minutes for a firmer texture.
I used these babies to make lentil soup. It was truly amazing. I was about to give up lentils because the green things from Trader Joe's were so bad. This was a completely new experience for me. My next Instant Pot black lentil adventure is already on the horizon.
I'll give it three stars if I have to. I'd like to give them a five-star rating because they appear to be top-notch lentils. However, when I received the package, the bag inside had burst open, with no damage to the box, indicating that either someone put a busted bag in or their bags could not withstand shipping. br>br>Unfortunately, this means that lentils leaked out of the box seam for the duration of the journey. I paid four pounds for it, but it lost a pound during the journey. It is only 3 pounds in weight. Which is a complete rip-off. In the future, I'll have to look for another vendor to purchase these from.

With naturally released pressure, 16 minutes is all it takes. When you're finished, stir them together and set them aside for a minute or two. SO tasty! They sprout beautifully as well, making a crunchy, peppery salad topper or protein-rich snack. food for a road trip They are a true staple in my vegan diet, and while I enjoy all lentils, these are by far my favorites, especially because they are grown in the United States. You can get them for a lot less money on Amazon or directly from the company. What is there not to like about this?.
UPDATE 1/13/22br>Neither the manufacturer nor the vendor has responded. br>br>The image for this item depicts a bowl of these lovely sprouts. I don't consume legumes unless they have been sprouted. They're hard to swallow. Sprouting them is more to my liking. It gives them a more youthful flavor. After sprouting, cook until you get a small bud or crisp in salads. They become more bio-friendly as a result of this. available, in my opinion. They should start sprouting soon. By the middle of 2024, it will be at its best. There is no way to get a refund or a return. In my opinion, you should purchase a different brand from a different vendor. Clear Creek was the company I contacted. We'll have to wait and see what they have to say. It's amusing that their label includes a full legal disclaimer about liability. Why? Its food. Strange. br>**In my experience, this is not a reputable company**.
There are no stones in the wash. Even though the package recommended a shorter cooking time than what I did, these little black lentils are the caviar of lentils, so tasty, after 4 hours in a crock pot stew.
