A tanning table was purchased to tan deer hide. There was no food in it for me. In my opinion, it would not be good to eat. The only time I've ever used Alum to make food preparation was to tan deer and rabbit skins. While I hear people buy this to pickle cucumbers, I can't imagine that I would use it for that purpose. My experience has been that for tanning hides, it works like a charm and this is the BEST value for Alum powder I have seen.
My goal was to use it to turn rabbit hides black. My experience so far has been very positive, after letting the hides soak for a few days, the fat came right off, and after soaking the hides for a third week, I did not have to clean them anymore. Now that the hides have dried, I can move forward to the next step. In my opinion, I don't think the other stages will have any bearing on this product, but I will update my review if they do. It would have been possible to do a great deal more tanning in the solution but I was limited by the solution. From each bag, I should be able to get three solutions. I'm satisfied with this purchase for the price I paid. As for the product, I could not be more satisfied and plan to purchase more in the future, as I have lots of tanning left.
The kids are my children! I owe Carl a debt of gratitude for this stuff! I think it is good that Carl still uses old school methods. As an added bonus, I appreciate the plain stock packaging of the product, and I appreciate how fast the company delivered so we didn't have to wait for relief. This smell is horrible.
It is not recommended to buy this powder if you wish to grow crystals. Crystals cannot form on top of it. The reason is unknown to me. However, it is also a good idea to try to find out why this does not grow crystals - Likewise, a failed experiment can be a learning experience. I suppose the powder might work for other purposes if you were to use it that way.
Crystals can be made with this Jacquard Products Jacquard Alum, 1-pack from Amazon thanks to the clear label. It is unlikely to grow crystals when this is pounded, as other have stated. Ingredients play a big role in the outcome. The above recommendation is a good one!.

This alum is what I bought so that my daughter and I could make crystals. Our first batch did not form crystals when we made it the other day. now think that our failure to boil the water was an error on our part. Whenever we microwaved it, we ate We tried boiling the water again after that and decided to give it another shot. I have yet to see As far as I can tell, this isn't completely made of Additionally, the bag I received was missing a small piece of fabric. I was very disappointed in the packaging and the quality of the product. We won't be buying from them.
The stores only had the small expensive cans that were not going to be enough for me because I was canning a lot of pickles. I discovered this on Amazon, so check it out! I am going to be able to use it for many years to come and I have plenty remaining. Anyone who is interested in canning should definitely check this out!.
