I've used this pectin and it works fantastic and is much less expensive than purchasing little individual packages In fact, I make hundreds of jars of jam every year, and it works without a hitch every time!
5T = One container of Surejell or other name brand (1oz per batch is what the instructions say, but they mean by weight, not It is not enough to have 1oz by volume A 1 oz weight equals about 5T)
If you are having trouble getting your jam to set, it's not the pectin. Pectin has a hard time setting when the acidity is too low (try adding 3- 2/3 of a cup of lemon juice A change in taste) or not reaching a strong enough boil will not affect the taste. If you double or triple the quantity of fruit preserve you are making, you will normally find that your fruit preserve is not setting due to the depth of the pot during the boiling process. You should use the widest pot possible if you are making double batches (more surface area will increase your odds of getting.
Pectin costs nearly $3 per box at the local grocery store. Because I'm making 20+ pints of jams and jellies this time of year, I found that buying this bulk bag to be a great deal. Regardless of how many batches of jam are made, they all The bulk pectin from Weaver's Country is a great option.
Having ordered this pectin twice, I ask to be notified whenever more is available. The farm we live on has a peach orchard. We sell peach jam and other jellies and this is the most cost-effective way to do so. Despite the fact that I have never had issues with it, it is still a wonderful product. And, of course. I like the way they ship fast!.
The answer to whether or not she liked it was "yes. ". Pectin is used in the preparation of jellies, jam, preserves, and all sorts of stuff mom likes to make. Her homemade products are so good that we don't purchase store bought any more because that's how much she makes (and how much she makes). Previously, we purchased a different brand, but it had been out of stock for a while so we decided to give this one When I asked her how she liked her jams and jellies, she replied that she liked them a lot. Wow! That's what the reply was. You can tell that this stuff is good by how well it adheres to itself, and it's not even cool to look at. Just following the instructions in the box was all that was needed to make things work. ". Then came a lot of thanking and more comments about how this was the best pectin she had She is only having a problem because what she is making is being used more than the stuff in storage because it is so much.
Indeed, it is a good brand as well.
This is the second time I have used this product and have not been very satisfied so far. When I canned rose petal jam, neither time did my product set up. Several of the recipes I used both I tracked specifically in terms of pectin amounts. The first batch of jam I made I didn't cook it very hard so I reprocessed it and added three tablespoons of pectin instead of two teaspoons as it states in the recipe. While some of it set up, it did more resemble a dessert topping than a In the second batch, I found a different recipe that called for much more pectin and hardboiled it before canning, and this time it is still liquid after 12 hours. I plan on reprocessing these as well and seeing if I can get them to set up. Although this is a nontraditional recipe, I intend to experiment with it until I make strawberry jam, and it goes down well. My intention is to send it back if it does not work. We are keeping this product at three stars for now since it is a good value but if you have to buy double the amount of pectin that you would buy in store, it is not worth it.
There are a lot of items here, but they are at a great price. This product is great! I highly recommend it!.
I appreciate being given a bulk supply so I can use it whenever I need it.
