Hodgson's Mill is the only hot cereal with oat bran we've ever found as good as it. We were disappointed to find that they had been acquired by another firm. There were a few brands we tried, including Now Foods, Bob's Red Mill, and Mulberry Farms. All of them are ground very fine, resulting in a gooey substance that is soft on the tongue The consistency of food is mushy. As for this particular brand, we didn't buy it as you can clearly see in the picture where they show the bran in the wooden spoon that it has been ground to a fine powder There is a fine powder in it. Based on the looks of it, it seems worse than Bob's Mill. You will see what I mean if you zoom in on that picture. *br>There are a few places that advertise coarsely ground oat bran cereal, but they are special orders online. *br>Apparently most companies are trying to appeal to the 'Cream of Wheat' crowd, which is a shame.
My understanding of the situation is unclear. Oats are not one of the foods that tend to accumulate glyphosate, at least from what I have learned. Herbicides (the source of glyphosate) should not have been used on the product, as it claims to be organic. The most likely scenario is that little or no glyphosate is present in the product.
It is different, that's for certain. There is a difference in the nutritional profile of oat bran and oat fiber. A profile similar to that of rolled oats can be found in oat bran. If all you're looking for is pure fiber, oat fiber is what you need.
