There is a shelf life of 4 years for this product, and it needs to be refrigerated after opening. It is possible that if the product is beyond its best by date, it will not perform as well in a recipe.

Although I'm not sure if it needs to be refrigerated, I make sure all products like this (which includes flour and grains) are placed in the refrigerator to prevent mealy bugs You should keep it in the refrigerator (cornmeal). My home is in the South, and those bugs can be quite bothersome. SACO Buttermilk itself is one of my favorite products and I use it frequently to make baked goods such as can literally be kept in the refrigerator for years. Buying liquid buttermilk and then only using a small amount and then having to discard the rest is so much easier (and a lot more economical). I have used this product for years and it is very convenient and excellent.
A cultured blend of sweet cream churned buttermilk, sweet dairy whey, and lactic acid are used to create this beverage.

Baking is one of my favorite things to do, and some of my favorite recipes include The buttermilk is spendy, and it doesn't last as long after it has been opened. By substituting other things, the end result wasn't as good in terms of texture or taste. Nevertheless, I decided to give it a try and was amazed to find that it's incredibly easy to make and that I get the same results with my finished product as if I used Prior to and after opening, its shelf life is much longer, and its cost is lower.
This recipe makes buttermilk pancakes with depth and flavor that I love. Having buttermilk that is spoiled does not pose a problem. As well as baking, it's great for frying.
