This natter mix is one of my favorites because it's less salty than most others I've tried and it's also more cost-effective. I CAN'T ANSWER HOW IT COMPARES TO CRISPY SOUTHERN STYLE, AS YOU DESCRIBE IT. Before battering and deep frying the fish filet, I dip it in an egg and milk mixture.

The crab cake batter is one of my favorites.
This type of batter usually keeps better in the refrigerator after it has been opened. It has a longer shelf life, but I don't keep mine in the fridge because we eat it so fast. It's kept in a cool cabinet and sealed.

I can't believe what I've been missing out on all this time. I wanted to experiment with new haddock recipes while I was stuck at home. On the spur of the moment, I decided to order Zatarain's Fish Fry. I'm so glad I took the chance. So tasty. It's preferable to ordering delivery. It works well with a variety of meats as well. Now I'm debating whether or not to purchase an Air Fryer in the hopes of achieving the same results. My husband thought it was a little salty, but I added a small amount of corn starch to the mix and it didn't take away any of the flavor. Even so, the flavor was fantastic. It is something I strongly suggest.
The only criticism I have of Zattatain's Fish Seasoning is that it is a little too salty. I would have given it five stars if it had been made with less sodium. I really wanted to give it a 3 1/2 star rating because, while the texture is crunchy and tender when deep fried, you'll need a glass of water nearby to wash the salty spices out of your mouth!.
I could only find the small bag in the supermarket because my local Sam's Club had closed. I season chicken and fish with this seasoning, including salmon croquettes.
It's a great mix with less salt than the majority of the competition. To cut it even more, we add a pinch of cracker meal or flower.
