Questions & Answers

Is MSG present in Oscar Meyer real bacon bits?

No, they don't have any MSG in them. If they had, I would not have eaten a bite.

What are the ingredients in this dish?

I don't have the packaging in front of me because I already ate this product. However, if you look at the second picture in this listing, you can see the ingredients for yourself. It contains approximately 6 ingredients.

Do you know if it's gluten-free?

I called the Oscar Meyer Company before buying the product because I didn't know anything about it (1-). 800- 222- 2323). I was told that this is a gluten-free product, but you should double-check.

Is this something that needs to be refrigerated before it can be opened? I'd like to go on a backpacking trip with them. ?

Until it's opened, there's no need to keep it refrigerated! When bacon is cooked, it curdles, so I double-checked. Packages have a six-month expiration date. There has never been an issue for me! This is a fantastic product, particularly this brand, and the Prime Pantry price is fantastic; I used to buy from Retailers before I found Amazon. It can be compared.

the Oscar Mayer vs. the Oscar Mayer Hormel. I like to compare two similar products from time to time to see how they stack up against one another (I am not a paid reviewer; I simply enjoy the information). In this case, I made the following comparisons: Real Bacon Bits from Oscar Mayer 4 5 oz vs. Hormel Real Crumbled Bacon Original 50% less fat 4, Hormel Real Crumbled Bacon Original 50% less fat 4, Hormel Real C 3 oz. They're both available on Amazon for Prime members, and there's also a Prime Pantry option. Photographs of the actual product are taken in front of their packaging. Hormel has a lower fat content, which makes a noticeable difference in the appearance of the pcs. The Oscar Mayer had the juicy pcs of bacon fat that most people (including myself) have come to associate and love with bacon. From the photos, you can tell there is a difference. br>br>FACTS ABOUT NUTRITION: One tablespoon was the serving size in both cases. " br>br>CONCLUSION: Please purchase more and re-run the test. "br>br> Oscar Mayer was my personal favorite because of the fatty pcs. Both were tasty, but the bacon from Hormel is less expensive and tastes more like fresh bacon (Hormel's is slightly saltier and "jerkier"). Hormel, on the other hand, may be a better choice for dieters watching their fat intake. br>br>Update: There is one more category that needs to be added: (br>DURABILITY: Outside of the refrigerator, the Oscar Mayer did not last long. I started putting some on my salad after only a week and a half and was lucky enough to catch it before I put too much in – mold was all over the pieces. It's time to take a photo. I suppose it refers to how fresh the product is and whether or not it contains preservatives. That doesn't really detract from the OM rating, because that's where the fresh bacon flavor comes from, and the package does say "keep refrigerated" in very small letters. That's something I wish I'd noticed sooner. The Hormel has been out for about the same amount of time and appears to be in good shape, possibly because it is drier and saltier, and thus better preserved. I'm putting that in the fridge as well, just in case.

Without having to fry a pound of bacon, Hubby gets the flavor of real bacon in my quiche
5/5

We're trying to eat healthier, so I was hesitant to purchase Bacon Bits. My husband enjoys bacon in dishes such as quiche, but I rarely prepare it. This appears to be a viable option. There isn't a lot of fat in this bacon. It's got a great taste to it. In my most recent quiche, I used it sparingly and it was a hit with my husband. The issue has been resolved. He gets his bacon flavor, and I don't have to worry about the extra fat that comes with buying a pound of bacon and frying it. Although the package specifies that it should be used within 14 days of opening, I believe it will last a little longer.

Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, this is a great addition
5/5

My husband is a country boy who enjoys hot cereal for breakfast in the winter. He doesn't care if it's grits, oatmeal, or grain blends; he just wants hot cereal. He also enjoys sprinkling bacon bits on top. He's persuaded this city girl, I have to admit. On a cold day, nothing beats grits with real butter, sugar, and bacon bits (it's also good for dinner when we're too tired to cook or eat a full meal). It's nice to have bacon flavor without the greasy mess that comes with cooking bacon. Despite the fact that I cook bacon in the oven, it still makes a mess. We wouldn't be able to live without them in our home.

Bacon of good quality in an easy-to-use package
4/5

I appreciate the ease with which I can sprinkle the bacon bits on salads, pasta, omelettes, savory pancakes, soups, and comfort foods. The bits aren't as crispy as fresh cooked bacon, and the texture is more chewy than crispy. br>The package keeps this product fresh for a long time (it has a special humidity sachet inside). br>While it isn't the most delectable bacon, it does have a pleasant flavor and a hint of smokiness. It's got a good mix of fat and meat pieces. br> From my perspective, the pieces are the ideal size.

It's very useful
4/5

When you don't want to deal with the hassle of cooking and crumbling bacon, this fully-prepared version is a great alternative. Sprinkled straight from the bag, the cooked option works well. There may be one or two pieces that are more difficult to chew, but these are great in salads, baked beans, scalloped potatoes, and other dishes.

Bacon bits with the best flavor
5/5

The flavor is just as good as bacon strips without the mess, whether you're making BLTs or sprinkling them on a salad. I simply placed them on a paper towel, covered them with another piece of paper towel, and microwaved for 35 seconds on high. The aroma and flavor are divine.

Wonderful flavor! Pieces of bacon! They're a hit with customers and have a delicious flavor
5/5

Warm them up in the microwave, then spread some on a sweet roll and drizzle with maple syrup. Toss them in with scrambled eggs or make an omelet after warming them in the microwave or browning them in a skillet. Serve with sour cream and chives on top of a baked potato. This handy and versatile product has a wide range of applications. And the flavor - The flavor - oh my god, the flavor - as if it were crumbled strip bacon.
