Hormel products have always been a favorite of mine, so when I saw this great deal on Hormel REAL Crumbled Bacon with Applewood Smoke Flavor, it was a no-brainer for me. I noticed that some of the other "bacon" products' descriptions included the word "imitation" in small print. Maybe some people enjoy that kind of thing, but I'm not sure why. Real bacon is delicious, and when it's smoked with Applewood, it's even better. br>It comes safely packaged in a Hormel box with a clear description of what's inside. There are eight resealable packs in total. Each pack contains 3 ounces of real crumbled bacon, totaling 1. 5 pounds (1. (Net weight: 50 lbs. ) There's also no need to be concerned about freshness. On October 18th, 2021, I paid for mine. The box has a buy-by date of August 10th, 2022 on it. br>br>I purchased it to add a unique flavor to gumbo, jambalaya, and soups. Right out of the package, it's a great snack. Perhaps the ideal food. . . try some soon!.
I was afraid they'd have a smoky apple flavor, but they don't. They're meaty and delicious. They are genuine bacon bits (and chunks). I put them on baked potatoes as a topping. Soups, peas, eggs, and salads are some of my favorite dishes to make with them. They're not the same as the gristly fatty bacon bits. Quick tip: spray a little oil in a pan and heat them for a minute or two to bring them back "alive. " It's all about the bacon!.
The applewood smoked flavor is strong in the usable portion of the package. However, over one ounce of hard squares of bacon is not edible in every three-ounce package. If you tried to eat it, you'd probably break your teeth. It might work in a soup or broth to soften it up, but not as a salad or baked potato topping, which is what I do with it. I tried cutting up the tough pieces with a knife, but it wouldn't go through. I tried putting it in the food processor, but it didn't work. I'm extremely dissatisfied with this outcome.
I didn't come across any of the hard-burnt pieces mentioned by others. It tastes best when combined with something that will reconstitute it, such as soup or eggs. I, on the other hand, have consumed it straight from the pouch. It isn't fatty in the slightest. It's a 90% lean situation. It has a wonderful flavor and can be used to flavor just about anything. I haven't tried it in salads yet, but I'm sure it's delicious. Hey, this is the best bacon you'll ever have!! It has been cooked and is ready to eat. Greetings and Best Wishes for the Future.
This product surprised me with its quality; it tastes and feels like real, freshly cooked bacon. Overall, the pieces are of a good size, not too big or too small. It has the appearance of bacon, the smell of bacon, and the flavor of bacon. Bags that haven't been opened don't need to be refrigerated. Although an open bag should be refrigerated, the package is small and convenient to store in the refrigerator. Despite this, there is a substantial amount of bacon. Because the bacon pieces have a strong flavor, you won't need much to season or finish your dish.
They always have a lot of the store brand, which is funny. I was hesitant to place an order because I didn't know what I was getting myself into. The bags can be resealed. I assumed they'd have a less fresh flavor or something like that. However, the flavor and texture of this product is far superior to the jarred product! Ordering from Amazon is a breeze. I'm not going to go to my store to get them. They are a little more expensive, but the convenience far outweighs the cost difference for me. Exceptionally tasty.
After more than a dozen packages of Hormel, we have never had that happen. We use it in salads, burgers, eggs, and more, and it lasts for about a year in the package, so don't be afraid to stock up; there's no such thing as too much bacon!.
Hormel Bacon Bits are no longer available in large bags at Sams Club, which is unfortunate. I had a chance to try their Members Mark brand. twice. . yuck! It was very fatty and greasy, and it smelled and tasted awful. Hormel Applewood Smoked Bacon is fantastic! There is very little fat; Delicious mini chunks that are tender and perfectly sized. I would strongly suggest it.
