I prefer organic fire-roasted tomatoes when I use canned fire-roasted tomatoes. Second, I want them to add more flavor to a pasta or rice dish than regular canned diced tomatoes, which frequently taste medicinal and resemble pickled flesh. The fire-roasted varieties from Muir Glen and Amazon have both impressed me. Both improve the flavor of the few dishes I prepare. People seem to be writhing in a perpetual orgy of gratitude for the Muir Glen brand, but what are they doing with their diced tomatoes to yield such a seismic difference in taste? I haven't been able to replicate any huge difference in sauces or casseroles so far. br>br>So why would you choose Amazon over a supposedly boutique brand (since they both make assembly-related products)? line of business)? If the price is noticeably different on a given day, if the seller appears shady or a little too third-party for freshness, or if the other brands are simply unavailable at the time. Another thing to think about: If you have reason to believe that you would be supporting small farmers or businesses in some way, please let us know. I haven't seen any evidence of this, but if you do, please let me know. br>br>In life's abandoned bus depot, I doubt most people will notice a significant difference between Amazon and other brands, at least in terms of generic cooking (I can't speak for the rest because I'm not a chef). The distinction between fire-roasted and regular canned tomatoes is likely to be noticed by most people. In that case, the Amazon brand will suffice.
These diced tomatoes are far superior to spaghetti sauce in terms of flavor. These tomatoes are delicious on a pizza with some of your favorite fresh toppings sliced up. I only found out about this because I was out of my favorite spaghetti sauce and decided to make do with these (I was craving pizza). I'm not going back to the spaghetti sauce for the time being. It's not even close to the diced tomatoes in terms of flavor. What appeared to be a setback turned out to be a gift. It's possible that the diced tomatoes are healthier than the sauce.
When I didn't feel like going to Wegmans or Trader Joe's for organic roasted tomatoes during Covid, I brought these instead. These didn't have the same flavor as the others for some reason. They did their job, but with this particular brand, I had to season my sauce very well.
They appear to be quartered in the photo, but they are actually diced.
That the 365 Everyday Value line of products does not contain BPA (a carcinogen) on the inside of the packaging.
These mediocre tomatoes were prepared with little care. Not only did I discover discolored and undercooked tomatoes, but I also discovered a large stem floating in my chili after using them. It's Muir Glen from now on, thanks to the fact that I found it rather than a guest. So Muir Glen will most likely be phased out at Whole Foods, forcing you to buy theirs instead.
These tomatoes didn't have any fire-roasted flavor. The taste of regular grocery store generic tomatoes is superior to the watered-down organic tomatoes.
To give these tomatoes a try, I ordered one can. They were difficult for me to deal with. I planned to use them as a topping for homemade macaroni and cheese. I expected to be able to crush them with my hands as soon as I opened the can. No way. It's just too difficult. It was necessary for me to cut them. I'll try a different can and, if necessary, revise my review.
