On a cold winter night, this dish is ideal for a quick supper

This is the best hominy I've ever had, and I usually serve it with bacon or sausage. Simply cook two or three strips of bacon or one sausage patty in a skillet until crumbled and cooked, then drain and add the hominy to the skillet. Allow it to heat up and soak up all of the meat's flavors before serving. This is a Southern dish, and most Northerners have no idea what to do with hominy or believe they don't like it. Cheese is also tasty, but sausage is my personal favorite.
