I have a wife who prepares excellent clam chowder every time, and when fresh clams aren't available, she uses DeLallo chopped sea clams only. This brand is superior to all others. I will continue to order this product as I have in the past.
The clams must have been overcooked if there are some people who find them tough. A little heat in a sauce is fine with them, but if they're cooked briefly and gently, they retain their tenderness.
Because this brand seems to be cleaned very well, I enjoy eating it. It contains only a very small amount of sand and shells. It's like eating at a beach if you buy the cheaper, store brands. The Delallo, on the other hand, are tender, chunky, and sweet when I add them to my chowder just before it's finished cooking. I love it!.
