They've been chopped up. The best clam chowder is made with the recipe found on the can.
Yes, we've had it in the freezer for a few weeks.
My short answer is that I don't recall. We bought these four years ago, and when we went back to buy them the following year, they were sold out. BTW, I just checked and they only have one can left. For our family Christmas dinner, my wife makes a 5-gallon clam chowder. So it was back to Wally World for 16 chopped clams cans.
On rare occasions. It appears that when we go to buy the clams, they are out of stock.

For a 51 oz. bottle, the price is $49. Seawatch produces a total of 20 cans. 30 oz. clams, compared to only 11 clams. 45 oz. from the same size can of Snow's, which costs $12 right now. The Seawatch clams are a far superior, clean-tasting, and tender product; however, grit will be present regardless of which brand you purchase. But that's not a problem. Simply wash and rinse the clam meat thoroughly, then return it to the brine to absorb the flavor again. I'll be purchasing Seawatch in the future.
Canned clams, on the other hand, are like rubber band knots in clam juice, so a fresh clam is the only way to go. However, if you're in the business of making clam fritters or clam dip, these are a must-have. They'd be a good addition to a chowder, but they'd never be enough on their own. The can has a lot of juice. I was taken aback by the juice-to-clam ratio. There was a little too much juice and not enough clams. I'm a native New Englander who knows his clams: sea clams, littlenecks, steamers, quahogs, you name it, I've dug for it and eaten it. Outside of New England, I was shocked to hear people refer to littlenecks as STEAMERS, much to the amusement of my friends. They are not steamers! Soft shells, or "long necks" as they're known around here, are the clams to beat. For being a citizen of the United States, you get four stars.
For several reasons, I make an effort to purchase Sea Watch brand clams. 1) I've always been pleased with the clams' freshness, flavor, and texture. To make an exquisite soup, I combine one can with other ingredients (onion, celery, carrot, potato, Old Bay, a little cream, and bacon). 2) There are about twice as many clams per can as the "other" brand I tried, and the other brand had squishy, overcooked clams. Clams that have been processed. So, while Sea Watch is a little more expensive, it is well worth it if you want a high-quality soup.
This was my first time using canned clams from this brand. I went with the 51 oz. To make a large pot of Clam Chowder, use a can of chopped clams. The clams were extremely tender and flavorful. The extra steps in preparation were well worth it to ensure a smooth soup with no grittiness, so I rinsed them thoroughly to remove any sand and strained the clam juice. This is a product that I will continue to purchase.
Clams are a type of seafood that can be found Spaghetti, homemade or canned sauce, clam juice from the can, separated clams, mixed with fresh parsley lots of Locatelli Pecorino Romano cheese, after the sauce has heated up, add the clams and cook for a minute, then pour over your spaghetti and enjoy! br>If making the sauce, combine Olive Oil, Butter, Garlic, White Wine, and Lemon Zest in a mixing bowl. fresh parsley, lemon juice to taste, pepper flakes to taste.
Cans have been dented once more, and there is no packing in the box, so they are just rolling around and getting beaten up. I'd give it five stars if it weren't for that.
We strongly advise anyone looking for a high-quality product to purchase this item.
Make red clam sauce or clam salad most of the time. With the clam juice, make fish chowder; however, the price continues to rise. The can was dented and the packaging was terrible!.
