Questions & Answers
That's what I think! These are chopped sea clams in juice. I only use them to make a quick white clam sauce over pasta (garlic, white wine, parsley). Obviously, they need to be cooked, in the sense that butter/olive oil should be used to heat them up, but maybe they could be cooked in other ways, too. My favorite way to prepare this dish is to use canned baby clams, but most are imported from Southeast Asia and come from questionable sources. The clams in this recipe come from clean Maine waters.
The protein content of the meal is 8 grams.
Wild caught Bar Harbor clams and all of their other seafood products are also supplied real by Bar Harbor, the most managed seafood company in protecting the oceans from overfishing and maintaining the health of the oceans.
I did not receive any blue juice in any of the cans that I purchased.

It is true that a lot of people are not fans of this brand because there is quite a bit of sea water in it. It is also true for every brand of chopped clams or baby clams I've ever tasted. The juice from the can forms an integral part of the flavor of the clam and pasta dishes. It is just clam juice and salt water, no preservatives, which are found in most other brands, especially when the clams come from other regions, like The clams and the other products made by this company are often out of stock in my supermarket, so I have to.
Even though I am not an expert in shellfish, I can say that Bar Harbor is a better recipe for clam chowder than Bumble Bee because no preservatives are added. In general, the price is higher, although the cost is lower if you purchase in bulk.
I bought them since canned clams have an insane amount of preservatives. In this case, they do not, but they end up being quite expensive. There has been a tendency for some of these cans to require a strong rinsing because of the amount of sand that they contain.
This product has been a great success in the past. I am sorry to say that this was the WORST clams I have ever purchased, except if you It was so frustrating that we ended up with saucers packed with clams we had to take out of our mouths because we simply could not chew them I enjoyed the taste of the chowder made with these Despite their good reputation, the clams had terrible consistency. This is the last time I will buy them.
If you compare the protein content on the label to those on other brands, you'll see that Bar Harbor has almost twice the protein. This means that there are more clams, not juice. So cheaper clams won't save you much money to begin with. My purchase will only be made at Bar Harbor from now on.
Though they taste good, they are incredibly tough and chewy for the majority of them. It would have been better if they had been more competitive, considering the price.
My special recipe is made with this brand of liquor called Mexican Seafood Cocktail, which I use every time. In comparison, the other brands (BB) have a murky grey color, while Bay Harbor is a neutral color. As it seems rare to be able to buy clams from the United States at this price point, I plan to continue purchasing this brand.
