I'm sorry I didn't realize they were Chinese. I make an effort not to purchase food produced in that country. They are, however, incredibly sweet. It's far too sweet. What is the significance of the two stars? They present themselves well.
These oranges were always a favorite of mine. However, I recently noticed that the juice is extremely sweet on its own, and that, despite not being mentioned on the ingredients list, it is most likely high in unhealthy sugar. I took a few orange slices out of the bag and washed the juices off of them. What I later tasted was a letdown, mostly bland with a sharp not-too-sweet aftertaste. I examined the label carefully and discovered that these are now manufactured in China! Aside from the fact that China's food regulatory policies aren't known for their strict adherence to full ingredient disclosure, I'm not sure how these will keep their taste on a long hot boat ride from China to the United States. br>br>I'm not sure how Dole justifies this when states like Florida and California produce cheap oranges. Something isn't quite right here, just like the taste. I won't be buying these again because I don't trust them.
Aside from corporate greed for something from the other side of the planet (vs. the Americas/Europe), China isn't known for quality control, and its widespread contamination of soil, water, and air poses a significant health risk.
The OU symbol is depicted in an out-of-date stock photo. Be careful who you buy from.
The first jar I ordered was excellent, prompting a repeat order, but the second jar was not only sour, but also had an unpleasant aftertaste. Very acrimonious. I'm not going to order anything else from now on. To succeed or to fail. This isn't consistent.
The number 69 stands for PURE GREED. $17 for a single pack. 69 is the number of pure greed! Despite my comments about paying $17 for this item, I will NEVER purchase it again. Nothing is being done about the OUTRAGEOUS price for a single item of $69, and nothing is being done about it.
I enjoy the flavor and the fact that it is made from fruit juice, as well as the quantity. It serves four to five people at my size. I'm not sure how many servings the jar claims to have. One disadvantage for me as the only person who consumes it in my household is that it must be consumed within a short period of time after opening (roughly 3 days). If my memory serves me correctly, I believe it was five days. I've purchased this item from Amazon several times and have always been pleased.
The jars aren't as big as they used to be. Everyone has done it, but it's disheartening to see yet another product reducing the value of our purchases.
