The lift ring was present on the cans that I received.

Is this a Chinese import? del monte's response to the question was evasive. So, are these from China or not, and there will be no equivocation! ?

Yes, I'm not sure if mandarins of this quality are grown in sufficient quantities elsewhere for export, but my husband loves them, so even if I don't like the source country, I'll have to accept it in this case. I once saw some canned New Zealand beef-- I don't recall the name, but it wasn't as sweet as the others. These are similar to clementines, but the texture and flavor after canning are much better. I hope this information is useful.

They are only small cans, which I was unaware of when I placed my order. They were delicious, but I couldn't eat them because they were too big.

China is where you should grow

They are, without a doubt, Chinese. br>In the United States, we have the FDA, which is pretty useless in and of itself, but in China, there is no regulation over what pesticides or poisons are sprayed on their produce.

Make your own decision based on the condition of the box. I had a subscription to the magazine. The previous shipment had dented cans but no damage to the box. I had assumed it was a one-time occurrence, but I feel compelled to speak up now.

Cans that have been damaged

Four of the cans had been damaged, with two of them having been opened. Thankfully, the packaging was adequate to prevent leaks. It was a heavy box with bubble wrap, so I'm not sure how the perpertrator did it. I chalked it up to bad luck and moved on, as it appeared that the shipper had done a good job of protecting the product. The rest of the experience was exactly as it had been described.
