However, I am not bothered by that. There is a good flavor to it. Juice is packed inside that has a savory taste. I prefer to add a bit of oil (I use olive oil) to bring out the flavor. I can tell that this texture is similar to that of a mushroom, possibly a I like mushrooms. To use in recipes that would call for meat, the pieces are easy to cut up. This product seems to be really good to me.
Look for shelf space if you need it The only fake meat that works reliably in lots of recipes is this vegan imitation. I really enjoyed the taste, but the texture was a little bit rough -- I'm not a fan of gluten. Firm tofu is similar to that. In no way would it be mistaken for meat, as some people would think it to be.
I have used them for several years and like how they can be used for so many different casseroles If you serve noodles, this is a good option As a vegetarian I can't say whether or not they "compare" with meat in soups. If you're looking for a taste similar to meat, I don't know how they "stand up" to it. You can cook them with whatever you like or slice them up in smaller pieces for soups, etc. I season them with whatever you like and fry them.
However, even by seitan standards, they are quite rubbery to the point that I wouldn't buy them again. A little salt would be okay if the flavor were good, but it isn't. There are a few ways to make these palatable, but it seems the best is to coat them in tasty batter and fry them.
This dish is meatless and delicious. It was a great experience while learning recipes and techniques for cooking most impressive meals.
This is one of my all time favorites. Served with mashed potatoes and gravy, they are at their best.
The best way to serve this is in a casserole dish with mushroom soup and fried potatoes.
